Wizard of WOR opinions

I'd never played one until a week ago, I got one in. Great game. Has a really old-school vibe to it, though. It's like playing an old school, cheap horror movie. It even fades in and out between the screens, it's like you're watching an old t.v. I really like it, but I'm into old stuff. The speech is cool, in that it's almost impossible to tell what he's saying. Once you figure out what he's saying, it's pretty neat.

WoW is one of those games that just reeks "classic"... with the oh-so-bad it's awesome voices and such. Gameplay is only so-so IMHO, but the cab itself and the cool ass vocals make up for it.

Plus the cab is VERY shallow and it's the only one that will fit where I have it... so it stays.

:D

Awesome game!!!

I use to play WoW with my nephew BITD where I would press the fire button, and he would guide the player with the joystick. We played Bosconian that way also... made our quarters last a lot longer...

Are you talking about the one listed today on the Orange County Craigslist for $1500?

Yeah, cool game. But not that cool.

It was very popular bitd because of the two player simultaneous aspect. I got a nice one for fairly cheap not long ago just because it is one of those games that is a must have for a classic collection.

I have a chance to pick one up. I have never played it and was looking for some opinions of the game.

Agreed! Its a cheesy old school game, but cool for its day. Still a fun one, even better if the voice works!

Reminds me of the Gorf voice. Not quite as cool as the Berserk voice.

Played it with my buddies as a kid in the local Arcade. Now i play it co-op with my kids, great game! It's a classic for sure

The sounds on WoW take you right back to an 80's arcade. Classic game.

The first arcade cabinet I bought (2003) was a WoW cab converted into Ninja Gaiden. I removed some paint and found 3/4 of the sideart - I was really green in the hobby so don't judge me - I took the converted WOW/Ninja Gaiden to the next level and made it a Street Fighter 2 Turbo. :) Way too small for a 6 button fighter, but I it was fun. LOL

WOW is a great game. Just be prepared to have to fix a few things as there can be numerous problems with it. You can have several problems with the card cage (ram, rom, pattern, and cpu boards), power issues, sound amp issues as well as rgb board issues. Also keep an eye out for monitor glass art flaking.. Still, its worth it..

Another plus is the cabinet is really small. The upright is almost cabert size and still has a 19" monitor.. The nice thing is they tend to be $400 or less.

I have the cabinet, but it doesn't play WoW :( Got it this way. That said, World Series, The Season is a bit of fun. Wouldn't mind converting it back though.

Probably played this more back in the day with my buddy than any other game.. When I got back into the hobby it was among the first games I got and shipped in. I will never sell unless I am liquidating all. I think the attract sounds bring me back to the 80's more than any other game does..
