Repairing a Wizard of Wor and while game sounds are generally good, the Wizard himself sounds awful... maybe. I haven't play this game much myself so I don't have a good sense of what it should sound like. And YouTube videos seem to make it sounds like the Wizard was always a bit hard to understand. So the question: is what I'm hearing "normal"?

He better hope so. My GORF has a stutter, and I am happy with that. The SC-01 is hard to find at any price.

The repro is pretty cheap ( not sure how well it works in a WOW ) . And the original can still be found for under 200$ .
There are other chips on a wiz board that are much harder to find and are also at the end of their life expectancy.
OP's Really does sound normal except for some crackle which sounds like a bad connection somewhere in the center speaker unless all three are doing it . Sounds a little deeper than mine too .

I've not ran down the crackle… I believe it's the center speaker. Also noticed today adjusting the volume that the pots are not great either. Could be contributing to the distortion a little.

This machine came with a spare board set that I've yet to test. Once I get to it it'll be interesting to compare. But the consensus appears to be "ain't too bad", which gives me something to go on.
