yes, from pf drawings they show that the targets on the left out lane are to spell wizard.
that's gonna take some skill/luck to get it to bounce off of the pop bumper and hit all targets.

How common is it to have the rails cross over the middle? I can't think of any pins that do that.

I'm actually more interested in the new LCD back glass than the play field, lol. Does the play field seem busy or open? I'd venture with open, but I'm not used to looking at blue prints for pins.

Looks pretty open to me. Hard to tell, though..all that "open" space could be like the bottom of Pirates of the Carribean, then they've got 8 million things built on the upper half of the table and you can't even see the ball paths, lol.

Apollo 13, Simpsons Pinball Party (designed by the same guys doing Oz), Addams, Fish Tales....tons of games do.

I think if you look at most games, the middle is relatively open. You don't want your ramp shots too close. I think when this game is finished, it wont feel as open as it seems. It's going to packed with features and toys, 2 upper playfields, and that middle section will be full of inserts.

addams doesn't have crossing rails. you're probably right on the rest (addams is the only one i own of the ones you mentioned).

Speaking of Addams, I'm surprised how well the WoZ shots line up with it:
