With update to PS3 agreement, Sony removes its users' right to sue

The new terms of service explains that any dispute be addressed by an arbitrator chosen by Sony, who will only step in on an individual basis. Customers give up any and all rights to join class action lawsuits against Sony.

Typically when disputes arise under BMA agreements, firms almost always find for their employers.

Even if you agree to it you have something like 30 days to write them a letter and retain your rights.

Sony sucks. I try to not buy any of their products. Its like they are only renting you the hardware. They control how you use it, and can make it cease to work at any time. What kind of crap is that?

I have a PS3, I have spent more time downloading and installing "updates" than playing games or watching movies.

Too bad for them, their ToS don't mean a goddamn thing in the eyes of the law...sucks to be you Sony, but you're just sticking your dick in the wasp nest again with this.

Edit: Except for in the US of course...where he with the biggest wallet wins in the courtroom, not matter how wrong/guilty.

I don't think this agreement has any teeth. Just because you sign an agreement to settle via arbitration does not remove your right to file a civil tort against Sony.

Oh well I say. The hell am I actually gonna sue Sony for anyways? Hardly even use their damn hardware or services anyways.

same here. Sony's worse than Micro$oft for their "lets make our own version of things and not use the standard because we can (and people will have tp pay us more). Their TV's may have awesome picture quality, but I, for one, will go out of my way to buy something, anything, else before I buy a Sony anything.

oops... bit of a rant there :)

I've been the same way since they pissed me off with the anti-homebrew BS on the PSP, root kits, etc. I only have a PS3 for bluray and exclusives, and it doesn't get much play overall. If it can be played on 360, then I buy if for 360.

And I agree, I don't think this kind of thing will hold much water in court. I imagine it's more of an attempt to keep people from thinking they can and only to possibly buy some time when the time comes.

Can't say I agree on the TV thing though...every LG and Samsung I've seen that has been PROPERLY calibrated for in store display, whups Sony's offerings. And I've never owned an LG TV at that either...

Problem is, in alot of stores...they purposely make the Sony's appear better on display, because they're more costly and they have a slightly higher profit margin on them.

The one thing that fanboys don't know though, is that LCD/Plasma panels...come from a very limited number of suppliers, and Sony doesn't make their own. A Sony TV you look at, may be running the very same panel as the other brand TV beside it.

I bet you're right on that... I should have said _may_ have... I was really just recalling that BITD, Sony (trinitron) was _the_ brand in tubes...

I was never excited enough to even think about paying the premium, so it was a moot point to me.
I have a 52" LG that works great for me (and a 32" vizio that works great too :) )
The main point for me is that Sony can shove it up their ^&#
cheers
