wiring to Moon Patrol monitor chassis - a little help pls

I need to know exactly what wires go to the 2 video input headers on my G07. I think the prior owner had something screwed up, which is giving me some video distortion. I put this post here because I haven't gotten many updates recently for the threads I already have in the monitor section (I'm guessing I just have everyone stumped).

According to the wire diagram, there is a violet and wht wire which is the comp sync, and a black wire that is the ground, and I *think* these are both supposed to be going to the 3-pin input header. Mine currently is not set up that way.

On the remaining header (the 6-pin under the 3-pin one on the chassis), there are 4 wires connected to it currently. They are the violet-red, violet-green, and violet-blue wires, and a black.

I need to know the following:

1. should there be 2 wires, rather than 1 which I have currently, going to the 3-pin header? And if so, what pins do they correspond to?

2. for the 6-pin connector, what should be there and in what order?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, I have tried figuring out this out but really need some help. Pics would be great too if anyone has any.

Ok look at page 13 of that drawing set. That's the wiring diagram for the cabinet. You have:

3-pin labeled P201
pin3 -comp sync
pin1 ground

6-pin labeled P202
pin3 - Blue
pin1 - Red
pin2 - Green

If you look at the drawing it shows you they are coming from a 10-pin labeled 5P2. In order thats:
Vio-Wht
Blk
Vio-Blu
Vio-Red
Vio-Grn

If you need more help post, and I'll do what I can. I don't own this game though so I'm going off the drawing set I just grabbed from pdf.textfiles.com.

Thank you. If I am reading that right, it sounds like if I move the black wire over to the 3-pin connector, my prayers may be answered!

Well I've got good news and bad- the good is I confirmed that the 3-pin connector only has the violet and wht wire on it, at pin 3 on the far left. The vio red vio grn vio blue wires are in the right places at pin 1 2 and 3. The bad news is i moved the blk wire over to pin 1 of the 3-pin connector with a gator clip and sadly i ended up w vert hold issues and the pic looks like crap again. I am ready to push this thing off a cliff.

Hold fast...

Looking at this is giving us conflicting information. If you look at page 4 of the drawing set it shows 2 pinouts.

The 6-pin is:
1 Red (voi-red)
2 Green (vio-grn)
3 Blue (vio-blu)
4 Ground (blk)
5 n/c
6 n/c

and a 3-pin
1 n/c
2 n/c
3 Comp Sync (vio-wht)

That sounds like what you had originally. Nice of them to label it differently later on in the drawing set. So with it set up that way whats going on?

Also, going back over your pics on the other threads, I would get rid of those push-on connectors and wire nuts and cut back to clean wire, and solder the ends to some pins of a nice fresh molex connector. Connections like that can cause all kinds of wonky intermittent issues after all these years and exposure to moisture like that cab has had.

Not saying I know it to be true, but it's definitely possible. Now I need to get my ass to bed, long drive tomorrow, bleh.

Thank you very much. What's interesting is, yours appears to be wired more like mine. I'm seeing the black wire actually connected to the lower header (with the vio red bio grn and vio blue) and on the top header, I'm seeing the vio wht wire going to pin 3 on the far left, and it's also circling around over to pin 2 of that same header..... Is your game working I assume?

I guess at this point I'll have to see if I can score another chassis to see what is going on. I checked in my TRON and my Robotron and the chassis' in there look different from the G07 in my MP.

I guess that's where the trail ends for now. Thanks to all who have helped.

EDIT: I have posted a trade ad out in the WANTED forums for a rebuilt and tested G07..

A coworker who knows a little about this stuff is wondering if it could actually be the tube going that would have made my jitters and stuff happen. I've never had a tube "go" so, could this be the case, considering it had been outside for so long?
