Trying to wire them up to my 60in1 for p1 and 2 start and cant figure it out

got it....just no lights on them....I understand 1 pole is 5+ and other is ground.....I read somewhere you have to put a resistor or something inline....

What's the value of the transistor? Just solder one in-line and good-to-go?

... what happens if I try wiring up without the transistor?

Resistor, not transistor. Atari used 150ohm on their older boards (e.g. Asteroids & Battlezone). I think I'd use something a little higher, maybe 500 or 1k ohms, to limit the current a little lower.

If an LED is wired up without a current limiting resistor, it will likely burn out quickly. Some LEDs have such a resistor built into them.

Okay, I found the info. From what I've read, the resistor wired in-line should be 330ohm (1/2w), as found on game PCBs, but I've also read others have used 220ohm with success.

If the LED has been burnt out, replacements can be found at Mouser for ~$0.11 but Radio Shack carries them as well for ~$3-$4 a pair.
