I got some tips from some of you guys about wiring arcade controls to an NES. Thanks to those of you who got back to me. However, I'm not as tech savvy as many of you and was wondering if there is a simple solution.

Anyone have instructions or a tutorial on how to wire arcade controls to an NES? I'm thinking of making a control panel eventually using HAPP controls. Do I simply solder the joystick and button wiring to the corresponding soldering points on the NES controller board or do I need something else?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

I think your suggestion is best. Piggy back the arcade button wiring into the nes controller, then house the controller inside your arcade stick housing to keep it clean. Keep the nes cable coming out of the arcade stick in tact, and you should be good to go.

I've done this before with an xbox controller, maybe this website will help you w/ the contact points: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/index.php/t510168.html

I've never seen the inside of an NES Advantage stick, but perhaps that'd be easier? Maybe you could even use the same hardware and make a new base for it?

Good luck!

I appreciate your help!

Yeah, I really just wanted to confirm that wiring straight to the NES controller board would suffice. I'm happy with my advantage, but as most of you know, it doesn't have the same feel as an actual arcade stick and buttons.

Thanks!

just in case you have never seen it

Thanks for the links guys. I actually stumbled upon both of those, but they don't supply any details on how they wired the controller. I'm just going to try and figure it out. Thanks!

they should show you what solder points control what button press. From there, wire-in your arcade controls and it should simulate the NES controller press.
