I have a new transformer that I'm using with a new Bob Roberts style power supply set up I'm setting up. I'm lost on how to actually wire it. Does the power come in on the primary and exit on the secondary?

-Thanks for the help

yes that is what it looks like for that one. is that an iso transformer or a 1:1 transformer which matters if your powering a monitor with it.

Uh oh. Which one do I need for a monitor?

technically it depends on the model of monitor and if it requires an iso transformer or not. personally always use an isolation transformer if ever in doubt because if you need one and don't use it your monitor it toast and if you use an iso and don't need it nothing bad happens.

Whew. I have an iso transformer.

Thanks for the help and new understanding of transformers!

your input can go into the primary or secondary sides. a lot of those I've tapped into the primary and the voltage out the secondary was 130+V. if you flip them around where your input is on secondary and the monitor connects to the primary it'll probably go way down to like 110V. in reality the 130 is ok, that's what voltage regulators are for. lol
