So I'm about to get the Space Shuttle playfield and I have sort of a dilemna to deal with. The wire braid that supplies power to the GI bulbs.... it's damaged on my playfield, and it's stapled down and otherwise would be a HUGE hassle to transplant.

Can I just go with regular insulated wires from point to point, or is there some electrical reason to have one continuous unbroken, uninsulated, easy-to-short braid?

No reason you can't use regular wire. I believe braid was used originally because it was "interlaced" often with bulb sockets - something not easy to do with wire. No difference electrically otherwise. Have fun!

Makes sense. I just think its a huge hassle to look for something similar plus i like the idea of that line being insulated. I know working on it with the machine on is a no no but giving me less places to short out is a bonus lol.

Pinrestore.com sells the bare wire, it's under supplies on the website. I have also used picture hanging wire from Home Depot. Did an older Williams pin with that.
