I have a spare 12VDC .35A fan that I pulled from a large server I got some time ago. My Tempest monitor runs really hot. My idea, of course, is to wire the fan so it blows on the monitor. The ARII has an unregulated 10V test point that I think is DC. The fan has three wires: white, red, and black. How do I make this work? Any other suggestions?

A DC fan should have 2 wires, I'd think. I did the same thing..I used wired the black to a ground test point and red to DC 12 or whatever on the AR2, using spade connectors.

It's not blowing exactly where I want it, but I got it moving a little air and it's removable, as I just used zip ties:

The white wire is probably just to provide RPM feedback to the motherboard, you can ignore it. I would use a 120v fan (radio shack) running from the power brick instead of stressing the AR board.

Here is my fan fix. Running off of the 10.3 unregulated, which has an actual value of 12V. This is the perfect value for my old server fan. I usually hate adding fans to games that didn't have them, but in this case I had to make an exception. The additional load doesn't seem to hurt the ARII at all, all voltages are the same after the addition. I think the unregulated power is running from a lug on the ISO if memory serves. I used short screws, so the side art is completely undamaged from my addition; I was VERY careful. If this is removed in the future, it'll just take a couple of dabs of wood putty and some black touch up paint. I also found a use for Bob R's Lagniappe #8.

Nice work. Your pics have made me realize that my Tempest must have had an Amplifone monitor originally as the hole for the screen was cut much bigger than the size of the wg tube on mine.
