Winston-Salem, NC Aution Results (9/17/11)

So you didnt buy anything? I was there as well. Brought my nephew and he had a blast. Picked up a couple games for the upcoming kids bday parties.

No, I didn't buy anything. I was feeling kind of cheap on Saturday. I was on the fence about a couple of things, though. I'm really Jonesing for another pinball machine...

I bid on a bunch of lower end games, but they kept going up higher then they should, especially after fees and taxes.

I ended up with 5 things.

At the last row or two you can normally get junk games fairly cheap. I buy the games at the end for the monitors, ones with working 19" monitors for $20-50 and working 25" monitors for $75-100. I bought a few but not nearly as many as I can normally get. And for the most part it was not the sellers bidding it up. I think everyone had the same idea this time around.

Did anyone happen to catch the prices for the Asteroids Deluxe, Mappy, Omega Races, and Sea Wolf from the last row? (I had to leave early)

This is off memory and what I bought or bid on, I did not write everything down. Mappy went for $125, game looked rough to me and did not work. Omega race cockpit went for over $400, Omega race upright was $130. Not sure about Asteroids Deluxe or Sea Wolf.

Dang. I checked out that Mappy pretty closely--no power to the monitor, and the power board connector had burn marks. But the cabinet was in great shape, other than the overlay and a small chunk out of the wood next to the control panel on one side. Side art was 99% there and the topbox/marquee were good. Not to mention not having seen a dedicated Mappy in a long time.

I took a couple pictures of some of the vectors, including the disintegrating Empire Strikes Back if anyone would like to see them.

Yeah there were a lot of games at that auction that you normally don't see there. I didn't even look inside after seeing the outside. I have seen 2 mappys other than the one I have and they always seem to be in fairly good condition. The one I have is not perfect, needs the CPO replaced, buy it is in way better condition cabinet wise than the one at the auction. The marquee was very faded on the auction mappy as well. I wish i would have bid on it because I do need a top box for another game I am getting, oh well. I may be able to dig up a picture of that mappy.

Empire strikes back went higher than I thought. I agree on the condition of this one, disintegrating is correct. I did not even bother bidding on that one.

I guess you were not the one that got the DK off CL here last week?

Unfortunately no, I never saw one up on CL.

There was a DK on the Richmond CL about a month ago, IIRC the guy was asking around $650. It was definitely not worth anywhere near that, totally hacked up interior (was converted to jamma). Monitor was dead.
