I picked up my first two games of 2012. Joust and Robotron. Ironically, I didn't have any Williams games in the collection and these both came in about a month apart.
Joust - Took the family on a small roadtrip (4 hours roundtrip) to get a "working" Joust. The guy quoted me 250.00 sight unseen. I took a chance on it and when we got there, we found it sitting in a covered area OUTSIDE of an airplane hanger. The condition looked awful. Covered in dust and the monitor was missing the chassis. The boards looked pretty good and the cabinet didn't have any water damage. Luckily it was sandwiched in between a bunch of other games that were partly protecting it. I almost just passed on it completely but offered the guy 120.00 for it and he took it. I had an extra monitor, rebuilt the power supply, replaced the ram chips with 4164's replaced the ballast and cleaned the whole thing up. The game is now alive and flapping. I'm glad to bring this one back from the dead and now I just have to do some cosmetic cabinet work.
Robotron - This one had been sitting for 490.00 on CL for over a month. I finally gave in and decided that I needed to see it. I sure am glad I did. This thing is immaculate. All original. Perfect CP, bright monitor, artwork is amazing and solid cabinet. The joysticks feel like new. I forgot what a great game this is. The sounds are so killer turned up loud. My kids love it. The guy said it was in a pizza place before he got it but it doesn't look like it was played much at all. I got it for 400.00.
I really like the way Williams games are set up. The settings are easy to adjust and everything just feels solid about these games. Here's a quick pic I took of my two youngest playing them.
