I posted this on another group but figured others would appreciate this on this site.

I got this Williams Varkon from an old time Vendor who obtained the cab from the original programmer Tony Kraemer, (who I think is deceased) He had all the history on the cab which made it even a cooler purchase. I guess they knew each other and this vendor had owned cab for around 20 plus years..

The cab is marked as XP-Cab (i.e test) but is has all art etc...although there are some differences..mostly on playfield art...it does have a token sticker so it saw some location action...but its in very good shape and wasn't out there long...

I had all locks except the one for bottom coin bucket. When I drilled the lock I found two mint Varkon manuals (including a smaller hand held style) which I've never seen. The interesting thing was something wrapped in some foam. When I opened up the taped of piece of foam I found three chips. One was marked with 82 date (sound chip) and two game roms with no year...these were there for long time as the tape masking tape was dry rotted..I will have to read these to see if they have anything new on them or are proto test chips:eek:...
