I'm troubleshooting an issue with no sounds in my Flash with a Type 1 Williams Sound Board. I know the amp-portion of the board is working fine - when I push the diagnostic button I get a sound.

Should the Sound Board cycle through the sounds programmed in the ROM when pressing the diagnostic buttonor does it normally just play a single tone? Currently it only plays a single tone when pressing the button.

Also, when playing a game there are no sounds, so I'm trying to track down if the solenoid signals are making it from the MPU to the Sound Board as well. But, I wasn't sure how everything should act/sound since this Flash is being resurrected from the dead.

Older System 3 game sound boards will just play a single tone like that - so the board sounds like it's at least partially working, and may be fine. If your connections to the sound board are all good, it could be an issue with the PIA on the sound board.

To help confirm, you can download/burn Leon's test ROM for these sound boards - see: http://home.scarlet.be/~fb054529/soundwill/esoundwill.htm
