My Diner (Williams System11C) is chewing up batteries, I go through the set in probably five weeks. It's not a huge deal because everything works just fine but I still would like to resolve the issue and I am looking for some "Guidance" LOL

Things I have done.

Two months ago:
1. Replace D1 (1N5817)
2. Replace D2 (IN4148)

One month ago:
3. Replace U25 RAM

I cannot find any shorts if there is one, and all the voltages check out fine from the batteries all the way to U25. If anyone else has had an issue similar I would sure like to hear what you did to correct it.

Thanks
Brad

The first thing I would do is look at the part number of the RAM. System 11C can be jumpered for 6116 or 6264 but you'll probably have a 6116. There are a bunch of part numbers that are pin compatible with 6116 but not all are low power (like 2016). It's possible that someone installed a RAM at some point that's drawing too much current.

R64 and Q40 are also connected to CMOS B+ so that's worth looking at but I'm not sure how a failure there would still let the game work.

Also, a RAM adapter from PinForge.com is always an option to eliminate batteries ;)

I just checked the RAM in diner and its a 2016 Toshiba TMM2016AP-12 here is the data sheet for it, from what I can tell the 2016 should work just fine but I am probably missing something.

I am to the point of ordering your replacement, from the time I have spent researching and the third set of batteries I am to the cost of the chip anyway and my headache would be cured ;)

I made a good guess then.
