Williams System 11 power supply replacements, who's the best?

Looking for a new power supply for my Pinbot. The original is severely hacked and giving me fits. Seems there's several replacements to choose from. Rottendog, Pinscore & Pinball PCB are the one's I've found so far.

Anyone here using an aftermarket PS? Any preferences?

I'm not using any aftermarket PSU's myself (all mine work) but a quick search here and at Pinside seems to say stay away from the Rottendog PSU, as it's under-equipped for the task.

Personally while I like PinScore a lot, I am not a fan of SMT components in an industrial device. Nevermind that I'd rather support X-Pin, as at least then I'm supporting the original designer.

That said, I like the layout of the Kohout (PinballPCB.com) power supply board. Good isolation, all through-hole parts, and big, heavy power traces. Nevermind the freaking built-in PSU meter function. Seriously, why don't all PSU's have this?

FWIW my vote is Kohout. I like that board.

Get a rebuilt one from Nabours Novelty on eBay. Top notch guy that does top notch work. And he will give you a credit back for your old one as well. I bought a PSU for my former Pinbot from him and it worked 100% the entire couple years I had the machine. Still running strong to this day in its new home.

Nabours doesn't have the 11A PS I'd need. And for $20 more I'd personally rather buy new technology. I did repair mine last night but with the hacks & damage it has I'd still rather replace it and just keep it around as a backup.

I too was leaning towards the Kohout PS and that's what I just ordered.

I put an X-Pin XP-WMS8345 in a Comet I'm working on and I've been very pleased with it so far. After checking out the Kohout model I wish I'd found that one when I was shopping around initially, looks like it has a lot of nice features.

I've been running a Pinscores in my Pinbot for about 2 years with no issues. The original was really hacked up.

Well the Kohout PS is giving me fits. Keeps blowing the 28v solenoid fuse. Also blew the HV fuse on one occasion. All voltages & connections in my machine check out fine. Contacting Kohout for return or replacement and will update.

For what it's worth, I have PS from Rottendog and Xpin. Both provide GREAT customer service and warranty work. I have not personally used the other manufactures.

I think I may have found the problem. Apparently Pin-Bot uses a 4A fuse for the solenoid circuit. The Kohout PS has a 2.5A installed. The HV fuse that blew was rated 125MA, supposed to be 250MA. I didn't have this one on hand so for now I put a 375MA in it's place, and installed a 4A in the F2 slot. So far so good. I'll report back with any problems if they arise again.
