Hello,

I just picked up this Stargate machine. I plays fine and looks pretty good....except it has a graphics glitch on the top of the screen that slices through the radar like a laser.

I will attach a picture.

I have yet to do any troubleshooting. I just did a quick sanity check of the game last night and took some pictures.

A few things for me, come to mind.

1. Check / replace the ribbon cable. I hear this is a major problem with Williams.
2. Check wiring harness / edge connector
3. Adjust monitor
4. Check power supply voltages (though this may be done first)

Anyone else seen this problem and have any thoughts?

Thank you!!!!!

your ribbon cable is healthy -- if it was bad, the game wouldn't load at all.
it's not the wiring harness. that scrambled line effect at the top is normal with this hardware.

someone else had the same problem you did, and strange as it sounds, I think it wound up being foldover at the top. try tinkering with the vertical size and vertical position adjustments on your monitor. Stargates came with 4600s, if you have the monitor with cards plugged in standing straight up locked under a black plastic bar, those adjustments will be on the card that the monitor signal doesn't plug into.

if you want your boards serviced so that the power supply is rebuilt and the MPU and rom boards get power their most efficiently, that's a service I provide. the game should theoretically last a long time afterwards.

Thanks Mecha.

I will definitely go have a look and let you know what I find out.

I do need a Stargate Monitor Bezel as the one for this game was toast. Its in 3 pieces and not usable.

Thanks again.

I got one for the Stargate at work from Quarter Arcade. not guaranteeing they have any in stock, but merely suggesting that's where I got one once.

Hi, I checked the monitor and I think its the 4600 you mention but I am missing that black bar....I think I have another one I can cannibalize from though...sitting in a box somewhere...

I posted a few more pictures...But just in case, I will add a few here so you can get a visual.....

I noticed on the screen, it has lines at the top as well as the graphics glitch. Is that an adjustment issue?
