I saw recently on bob roberts' page a cap kit for the williams sound boards. I was thinking about getting a couple as they're not that expensive, but what kind of improvement should I expect to get from these? I do have sounds on my williams games. Will it be a waste of time and money unless I don't have sound? I noticed a friend's sinistar sounded crackly. Would it fix something like that?

If your sound is working, then you probably won't see any improvement. If you are hearing a hum, the sound is intermittent or the sound board is dead, then a capkit may fix some or all of these issues.

If your caps are 30 plus years old, I would replace, but that's just me!

I shot gunned the caps on my Defender sound board to clean up some hum in the speaker. It helped. To be honest I did not realize Bob had a kit. I happened to have what I needed on hand.

Mod the scratchy sounding explosions into a smooth bassy thx style sound effect and you probably would turn into a mini arcade folk hero man! :D
