Williams "Sorcerer" small problem

Well lamp column 2 is clearly not working for ya. Check the path of the YELLOW-RED wire from the laps back to the header 1J7-2. With the game off, use your meter in continuity mode to determine if there is an opening anywhere along the YELLOW-RED wire path to the 1J7-2 header. Might be a good idea to reflow the 1J6 and 1J7 connectors while you're at it.

For a quick test you could also swap the PIAs at U14 and U15 to see if the problem follows. If nothing changes then you'll need to work from U14-11 through U54-12->11, Q16 and Q24.

You're lucky the problem is so consistent and well defined.

Ok, I will try the trouble shooting steps you called out

Thanks,

Thanks,

I got a chance to look this over today.

"For a quick test you could also swap the PIAs at U14 and U15 to see if the problem follows. "

my board does not have sockets on U14 and U15.

It looks like the wires from the lamps to the header tone out.

i'm a little late to the discussion, but I just picked up a sorcerer pin last week, i have a good manual/schematics if you need a scan.

btw... everything's good on a mine... occasionally the scores change to all 8's and 9's but otherwise its perfect (and thats not often that it happens)

I got the Sorcerer lamp row working today. I finally went over how to check transisters (pinrepair.com) and removed the board to test them.. They all seemed to test fine so I started checking other things like the large resisters... low and behold one was "open" and looked to be the one that goes to lamp row 2.. "my problem row"....

I removed a (tested good) resister off of a POS non working extra system 11A pinbot board and installed it on the Sorcerer MPU board and put it back into the PIN.....

It is working like a champ! Once my wife gets back home fro work and I get free from baby sitting... I plan to play it and drink some beers...

Fun Fun,
