Hi, I have a Williams Road Show that resets randomly when you play. Sometimes you can get a full game, sometimes you can't. A lot of times the game resets right after you plunge the ball. It's not a "power" issue as none of the other pins at this location reset intermittently like this, and after it resets you see the playfield lights flash on and off trying to start back up, but it won't get to it. The display is not coming on when this happens. There are no burned connectors or anything, and everything else seems to be ok. Any ideas? I was told everything needs to be resoldered, all the coils and solder joints which could take hours...is that the case? What about a diode? Where would I test for something like that and where on the boards would it be for something like this. It is completely baffling.

I've found the information on that site to be so helpful. I had reset problems w/ my Road Show too, and reflowing a lot of the connectors and fixing a few flakey wires did the trick. I didn't replace my Bridge Rectifier, but I added the recommended jumpers ...figured it couldn't hurt.

I had a similar problem on my Indiana Jones. Checking pinrepair.com pointed me to the bridge rectifiers on the CPU board. They tested good but I reflowed the solder to them anyway and have not had any problems since.

Here is a direct link to the pinrepair.com section regarding resets and the BRs.

Note the 2 BR in the upper right of the large CPU board...

Follow the link RareHero provided, that page helped me correct my resetting Road Show and ST:TNG.
