Got tired or waiting for new JROK boards :(

I will have some available in 3 weeks, they are not like the (all in one FPGA) JROK boards.

These are intended as a lower cost alternative.

Requirements:

1.)Williams CPU board
2.)Williams sound board
3.)Williams eprom board (all eproms removed)

Replaces widget board.

Games featured:

Joust (red label)
Robotron (blue label)
Joust (green label)
Stargate
Defender
Bubbles (red label)
Splat
last game to be announced later

Can run in multigame mode in standup and cocktail machines
Compatiable with standard MultiWilliams control panel
Each game has its own NVRAM

Price around $135

More details soon...

NICE!

Thanks for building a cool kit for the hobby community!

If these were the boards you showed me yesterday then those will sure be nice. And the cool thing, no postage stamp edges. ;)

Folks, when this is ready for sale there will be a thread in the Members and Dealers products and services section. This announcement will stay in the General section. This will help drive more views in that forum section once the for sale thread goes up!

Wasn't the last run of JROK boards around $150ea? For a complete multi-Williams stand alone PCB solution.
Your add-on for $135 would require all of the other pcb's from the description making it a much more expensive alternative I would think.

I do like the idea of using original hardware and no emulation for a game add-on. Will you be basing it on the original Multi Williams work done by Sean Riddle back in the 90's?

The multi widget board will make something like that a nice option finally.
Sounds cool.

It was around $185ea shipped for the JROK boards. I have one running in a game and 2 more waiting to go into cabinets. ;)

If you have a Williams cab already then you have what you need as far as boards go.

Hey guys, there is no point comparing prices of this board to jroks. For one, new jrok boards are currently unavailable. Two, a used jrok board sells for between 365 and $400. So in my book, $135 sounds pretty good. Props to the developer.

Any idea if Joust will work correctly?

Joust doesn't seem to work correctly on a JROK board. I played one for the first time tonight and at ~300k it started showing a platform that wasn't supposed to be there. It wasn't quiet the effect that Matt Osborn showed in his videos not too long ago... but it was just wrong.

I'll definitely be buying one no matter... I've always wanted to play around with a multi-Williams. :D

And I'm glad to see VectorLabs slumming as RasterLabs. :beerchug:

You should throw Alien Arena on the list too just for the heck of it, it's not a terrific game but it was made to be a simple EPROM swap for any of the Williams boards (except Defender and Sinistar) and it should just drop right in, only difference is I think the watchdog needs to be disabled for it to run. I think the ROMs are public domain now too and can be downloaded from MAMEDEV.com

I will send an email to to the author (Duncan Brown) and ask if it can be included.

**also the Blaster hardware is different from the standard Williams CPU, so
to keep cost low it will not be included**

Those of you who know more than I do, lets say we have a converted Robotron cabinet with no williams boards at all, how much realistically would the boards needed and this kit cost?

Can you give any more details ? Revision of the board, original cabinet & power supply ? JAMMA cab ?

Seriously, out of all the boards out there, some I know went into dedicated Jousts, no one's reported such a serious problem with Joust. Matt's sounded like a board or could be a power issue, and I'll always replace a faulty board. I've had problems with boards in cabs that barely put out 4.5v which is way beyond my control. Still amazed it would boot.

If there's a fault with your board I'll replace it.

Joust sucks on a JROK board. I played one for the first time tonight and at a measly 300k it started showing a platform that wasn't supposed to be there. It wasn't quiet the effect that Matt Osborn showed in his videos not too long ago... but it was just WRONG.

Since the MultiWilliams kit is designed for existing boardsets then yes it will.

First set of boards came in today, will build and test this week and release next week.
