williams coin door lock bar hole cover plates- new!

OK so as some of you may or may not know who I am (black dog machine firearms product) I am in the injection mold building buisness, now it is time to use my skills to help out my hobby and fellow pinball collectors. So I bring you 2 new products for you Bally/Williams collectors. First is a set of coin door bar hole cover plates. This part is a simple press fit and will cover the holes and any damaged art that it caused. Second part is a plunger housing cover plate, this will cover the damaged art caused from years of use from the plunger housing. The part is 1/16 thick and goes under the plunger and protrudes 1/8 on all 4 sides to hide any cab damage that my have occured. All parts will be injection molded and available in 2 weeks from PINBALLLIFE.COM and will be available in colors.
Next will be plunger housing cover plates for the Stern machines.
here are some before and after shots of parts installed. I will post pic of the plunger cover in the morning but as you can see from the pics this is the damage it will cover.

Great ideas!
What kind of $$$$ we talking????
Will you make a single hole cover?

I'd love to see what the pluger cover looks like, and the price :D

price

The hole covers will be under $5 a set, plunger cover plates the same with some quantity discounts.
Any requests for colors? I will post a pic of the plate installed in the morning.
Like most collectors I like my stuff nice and these are the 2 things I just dont like to look at on my machines, even my best pins have the ugly lock bar holes and some sort of art damage to the cab where the plunger sits. After the Stern cover plate I will build the larger plate for the williams/Bally machines that have the guns and triggers ect.
Also working on another super secret project with Pin Ball Life, to be revealed in about a month.

single hole cover

I can make a single hole cover if the demand is there, I will need some info on different machine types and what size hole we are talking about. the only machine I have with a single hole on each side is STNG the holes are 3/8. any info you guys can provide would be great!

I'd be interested in black (for big guns) and blue (for jokerz)

I like Projects :D

I might also be interested in the single hole cover (in black).

single covers

OK well lets use this thread to gather hole sizes for the single hole version and see how many we come up with. If there are several I can build a small multi cavity tool that can do them all in one shot so we have everyone covered and make it a worth while build.

To be honest with you I feel the block of plate looks out of place.
With that being said, I would suggest INDIVIDUAL super flat head bolt style with plastic nuts to screw on from the inside. After all they take zero abuse/wear so the heads don't have to be thick. Plus if someone has a wobbled out bar hole the pressure fit wouldn't be ideal anyway.

Hope you take this as it's meant "constructive criticism"

What he's making are hole plugs for where a security bar used to be. Usually the bar is removed by the game route operator when he sells a machine. Usually when we sold a machine we inserted a large carriage bolt or elevator bolt into the hole to plug/cover where the security bar was.

This is not for the lockdown bar that holds the playfield glass. Perhaps an edit of the thread title is in order?

coin door lock bar

Yes ken you are correct about what I called the parts, they are for the coin door lock bar holes, my fail, just fixed it.

To answer Deadlys question; Well you are right, a bolt does the job but the art is still damaged around it, the idea is to cover up the holes and damaged art. You may not like it but Id much rather look at a nice molded flat plate then tore up art and bolt heads. If the factory lock brackets had eber been installed the art is messed up. Boils down to personal preference on what you want the front of you cabs to look like, I dont like the wrinkled art around the bolt holes so I came up with a way out of it.

You should post your product over in rec.games.pinball. All pinball focused over there and you will get some action and feedback about what you are offering.

Pics of plunger cab protector installed

OK here are some pics, plunger and new part, my Funhouse showing the art damage and what it looks like after protector is installed, very nice!
Also a shot of the front damage on my cactus canyon caused by the coin door lock bar brackets and shot of the plate installed showing how it covers it up.

Nice Contribution

These are great offerings!

I constantly find myself faced with 90%+ side art that is original but has the usual scars due to the security bar, legs and the shooter cover, etc. I really like having options that steer me away from total decal removal if at all possible.

I'll IM ya for my order; I really like the shooter gasket.

fits stern too!

just did some measuring and the plunger cab guard will also fit the stern machines, they are a tiny bit smaller dimentionaly than W/B pins so score!

Molds are done for the new parts

OK mold tooling is done and I ran some parts today, ran black, gold and a darker blue. running red next. Here are some pics, before and after on my cactus canyon, TOM and TOTAN.

I've been asking someone to do the shooter surround for a few years - awesome product and I will be buying one for my NGG where the artwork got munged from a loose shooter plate.

I'd like to see if some sort of slip-on non-t-moulding covering for the backbox wooden edge around the translite is doable. Stern uses t-moulding on their latest pins to cover that edge. I'd like something I could slip on but is removable and does not require glue or routing the wood.

plunger protector plates

Just installed the dark blue plunger plate and the coin door lock bar plugs in blue, they look great. I will post a pic

Just wanted to share, I bought a set of the plunger bezels and lock bar plugs for a buddy of mine's Big Guns and Jokerz! as part of his Christmas gift, I've had these pics for about a week or two and just haven't had a chance to post them.

My friend is very happy with them (and by looking at these pics he needs to actually clean his machines lol). Unfortunately he won't be using the Lock Bar Plugs (maybe on his next pin).

Just wanted to say thanks to blackdogmachine for these and keep up the excellent work. Once they go on pinlife i might pick up another one or more for another local buddy.
