IJ is my Favorite WPC 'A' game. As others have said it needs to be setup correctly. The mode start hole needs to stick, the POA needs to be setup properly, the flippers need to be strong.
The best part about IJ is the scoring and the modes. Out of the 12 modes, I'd say 10 of them are really solid. All the modes are fun to play, but more importantly, scoring wise all the modes are worth playing.
Unlike games like TZ and AF, you need to play the modes both because they all score so well, but you cannot stack the modes. TZ and AF both have a bunch of modes that are either not worth playing, or AF especially will just award you so many points or an extra ball etc.
Also, I'm a big fan of the wizard mode because you can beat it. I've never ruled the mansion, but in TZ it's a fun free for all, and there is some strategy to it, but I prefer wizard modes you can beat.
IJ is a sweet game, it sounds like it's the game you have your heart set on, I'd hold out for it.

How much time have you logged in actually playing an IJ?
I have owned all the Williams WPC/WPC95 'A' games (IJ, TAF, TZ, CV, SC, SS, MM, AFM, TOTAN, MB, CFTBL, STTNG, CC, etc) and IJ was the only 'A' Williams game that I totally hated. I sold the IJ a long time ago. I do not miss it. I am not a fan of widebody games anyways but I do like to play a good game of TZ or STTNG.
For the price you will pay for an IJ you can have a few nice Bally/Williams 'B' games, like Shadow, Whitewater, Getaway, FT, etc.
