When I start a one player game the back glass shows one player but it plays all four players. Two, three and four payees selections work without trouble.

More than likely the coin unit is stying stuck in four player position. When you reset the game the coin unit should reset to one player. Check the springs on that unit and make sure they are not broken or have come loose. Also sometimes theses stepper units get gummed up over time and just need to be cleaned.

Just to note the Coin unit is one of the big stepper units located in the cabinet on Grand prix I believe. Also check the Player unit as there could also be a problem there.

Player unit is in the backbox. The Coin Unit and Ball Count unit are on the bottom panel of the cabinet. The units do get gummed up over time and require cleaning & lube.

New Owner Follow Up

I am new to EM and pinball in general. What should I use for cleaner and for lubricant?

Not Yet

I have been too busy playing it as is to have the time to sit down and diagnose. I appreciate all the good advice and I hope to get it sorted out this weekend.
