F-14 is one of those games I had on my "want if the price was right" list. This one was listed locally on Thursday 6/23.
I sent the guy a message and told him I'd like to pick it up. He said he was out of town and listed it to get some interest and wasn't going to be back in Colorado until the following Wednesday the 29th. Which OF COURSE was the day after I had knee surgery scheduled.
I had two thoughts, one that there was no way I would be able to pick it up right after surgery and two that he was going to get all kinds of messages and offers on it in that week.
Not being one to give up easily I shot my good arcade friend Nick
@COVidFan a message to see if he would be available to help me get it. He of course was willing to help and I setup a time on the Thursday after the seller was back in town.
Thankfully since I told the guy I was 100% interested in getting it he took down the CL ad and held it until he got back in town.
Nick picked me up and we headed up the mountain a bit to pick it up. Really cool mountain town area right in the foot hills (I actually want to look at houses up there)
The ad said it came with a new playfield cover but I didn't know if he meant an overlay or a hard top. Turned out to be a brand new in the box hard top. I'm not sure it needs it, the wear on the playfeild isn't too terrible. It also came with a full set of replacement plastics and an NVRAM. SCORE.
It was in a walkout basement which made it easy to get out, Nick broke it down and dolly'd it out.
We parked it in the family room for the time being until I am able to rearrange some games down stairs and get this moved down there.
