Williams Defender Speaker Grille Anyone want to split costs?

I am going to replace the Speaker Grille on my Defender Machine with this stuff:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#9255t251/=67kd84

It's almost $40 a sheet, but a single sheet would do mor than one machine, is anyone interested in doing the same to their Defender or other Williams game and sharing the costs?

Is the hole spacing/size an EXACT match? If someone found an exact material in metal, I could see some buyers being interested for Robotron and Defender. Since they would be bent over the wood, you'd need to cut the wood panels, then bend the black mesh over and staple, just like an original piece.

Defender Speaker Grille

I don't plan on forming the corners the same as the original, it's not required to get the same finished effect when its put together...

I got the idea from here:

The grille material seems to be as close as I can find, it needs to be painted black before install as it comes unfinished from the supplier. The pic below shows to new stuff on the top and the original on the bottom.

That's very close! I'd make sure and spray it satin and not gloss, but that should look great as a replacement.

Have you checked out the other manufacturers for similar material to the McMaster-Carr sheet but in a plastic like the original? http://www.mcnichols.com has 1/16" diameter round hole, 3/32" staggered spacing, and they seem to say they can do it in polypropylene, which "comes in white and natural colors". They might have the stuff already in black.

Check with either YellowDog or Riptor, somebody mad a bunch of those but I don't recall who and they were very reasonably priced.

It wasn't me. There was somebody about a year ago that was making them out of those sheets, but I don't know if they ever started selling them. I believe it was Riptor.

I did find this with a little playing on the McMaster site:
9255T251
Steel Perforated Sheet 36" X 40", .0625" Hole Dia, 41% Open Area, 20 GA
In stock at $38.41 Each

You should be able to get 2 per sheet.

Edit: Same stuff as listed above.
