I went to buy a mattress today, and was chatting about getting the Centipede running today, and he informed me that he has a Defender Cocktail missing it's sound board.

I seem to remember certain rules for board set compatibility, or does anyone make a modern repro?

I'm hoping to point him in the right direction, he's a very non tech person.

Thanks.

it's just a Williams Type II sound board. it was used in their early solid state pinball games and the classic generation video games. albeit the sound board must be jumpered to use a 2716 rom. the Type I variety from the pre-speech pinball games will work too, the early production Defenders had them.

they're probably all over on ebay or @braedel may have something to sell you.

Thanks.. It had been so long since I've had a real Williams board set in hand, I didn't want to trust my memory or a random ebay search.

Or, you could tell him yeah, that part's UNOBTAINIUM, I'll give you an Xbox in trade for the CT. 😆
When we were talking, he bought it locally, and might be my old one I sold around 15 or 20 years ago... :)

I don't have the space for another game, as I got older I moved away from collecting arcade games, I started collecting in the early to mid 90's and was active on the arcade newsgroups back then.
As I got older, children, etc, I really downsized, and then mainly swapped to collecting vintage computers. (I now have a large collection of Commodore, Atari, Apple, Tandy / TRS80, TI, IBM, etc, etc,)
The upsides to these are they are MUCH easier to move around and play with.

I'm currently down to Nightdriver, Monaco GP cabaret, MultiWilliams in a old joust cab, SuperNeo 29 with a Mame PC in it, and a Captain America and the Avengers that was converted to a Golden Tee years ago. (Mame PC with all the trackball games on it.)
