I have been repairing a lot of Williams linear power supplies lately. It seems that a lot of them had been replaced with switching power supplies that were at best badly hacked into the DC Power harness.

The DC Power harness is included in the Williams Repro harnesses that I sell. I have had quite a few requests for just the DC Power harness, and people don't need the rest of the harness.

My question is... How many people would be interested in just a DC Power harness for their Williams games to help with putting the original linear power supply back in their game?

The cost would be twenty five dollars shipped in the U.S.

Hopefully putting the cost above won't push this thread into the for sale section, as I do not know if there is enough interest for me to make a run of these yet.

Forgot the games list. These will fit:
Bubbles
Joust
Robotron
Sinistar
Stargate

They will NOT fit:
Defender (we could do a run of Defender ones if there is enough interest)
Moon Patrol

Ok, I guess there is no interest in the DC Power harness.

It probably comes down to why people prefer switchers in their games in the first place.

It would look that way

Yes, people prefer to have resetting issues and lose their high score data on a regular basis in addition to having their cp and coin door lights not working. Williams games do not take switchers well at all, and people put switchers in them because they are too lazy or not smart enough to fix the original linear power supply.

I can understand too lazy, but not smart enough? You seem a little angry. :D

Am I correct in assuming that there is no way around the data retention issue cause by the power up/down sequence of switchers, outside of the CPU NVRAM Conversion?

As you can see in the images my cabs are a mess and I just want to replace everything, including the board connectors. I plan to put JAMMA harnesses in my two Williams cabinets. The one with my Robotron. Joust, and StarGate boardsets will need three Williams to JAMMA harnesses. Either of which will plug into the main(JAMMA) harness. So I guess a DC power harness will be part of that. (I already picked up the fuse and battery conversion kits from Bob Roberts).

Did I miss your "Interest in Pole Position wiring harnesses" thread? ;)

LMAO! Can't remember the last working Pole Position that I have seen.

Yes, but it involves add ing a large cap to your switching power supply. (which is kinda dumb to begin with) Basically the CPU NVRAM Conversion is the only answer to the problem with the high score data, but it does not solve the cp and coin door lights not working.

Looking at that wiring, leaves me speechless.

i would be interested in a harness for my defender if you decide to make those.

I make them now as part of the Defender Repro Harness.

Thanks all for chiming in on this, it is one more thing I can take off of my to do list. I will of course continue to make these by special request, as I have been in the past.

The previous owner of this Robotron couldn't figure out why he was having so many difficulties with the game.

I haven't taken a good look at the Williams harness or even want to in the condition it is in, but my idea of using a JAMMA harness in the cabinet should take care of the coin door lights.(If that's important). I don't know how the Player #1 & #2 button lights are supplied, so I can't comment on that.

So I guess I can use three of Bob Robert's "Williams Harness connector kits" to build three mini-Williams to JAMMA harnesses to allow me to alternately plug the Joust, StarGate and Robotron games into the main(JAMMA) harness.

I just checked the "Trading: Videogame and Pinball - For Sale" section but couldn't find anything. So I wanted to ask if you had any kind of price list for the various harnesses you make normally or special order.

Thanks.
