Williams CPO Adhesive... Throw the Goof Off away, there's a new kid in town!

I started the much dreaded Williams CPO adhesive battle today. Goof Off is supposed to be tried and true (with elbow grease). I am sorry to say, compared to what I used, it's a terrible product! I ran out of my small bottle, and went to Menards to get some more. I found a product called Zinsser Adhesive Remover. Do yourself a favor and throw your Goo Off away! (or keep it for light work)

Here's a random link to the product: http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=238

Anyway, I followed directions on the can. First, I used a heat gun to remove the CPO. Then, I used a natural bristle brush to put the Zinsser on (it's a semi-past, basically a gel, so it's easy to see where you've got it). Let it set for 10 to 20 minutes. Then take a plastic putty knife and firmly push, scraping it off. 99% of the adhesive comes off SUPER EASILY with the putty knife. I mean, it comes off almost in one sheet, leaves the wood almost perfect! Luckily, I didn't throw away the Goof Off, because I used it as a finishing touch to get the 1% out of cracks and such.

Really, you have got to try this! I think it was around $7 for a quart (I used maybe half a cup to a cup total). It's AMAZING!!!

Hope this helps somebody out!

Good to know! Must go find me some, now. :)

Adhesive Remover

I'm getting ready to do my Robotron CP and after what I went through with Moon Patrol, I'll try anything once. Thanks for the tip.
