I'm building some Williams control panels from scratch. Can anyone tell me what those plates on top of a Robotron control panel are made of? The two square plates located over where the joystick assemblies mount.

Also, I'm not sure about StarGate, but am I correct in assuming that only Joust had the large metal plate that covered most of the top of the control panel under the overlay?

Thanks.

Thanks. I actually saw that thread, but I still don't know what kind of metal those plates are made of or more importantly where to get them.

steel (they rust and aren't super light), can't help you on where to find them sorry :(

I can measure the square holes in my Robotron control panel, but would you know the thickness of the steel plates?

Thanks.

yup mine are out of one of my control panels i'm restoring right now, they're 1/16" thick.

Thanks.

I should be able to make my own, or even use a large piece to cover most of the top of the control panel.

Does anyone know if StarGate had any metal plates? (I'm guessing it didn't).

Someone repro'd those metal pieces years ago (pre KLOV?), I bought a pair and used them on my project. I have no idea who it was, but if you search rgvac archives, you could probably find it.

I don't think Stargate had anything like that on top.
