Hey gang

I just picked up my first pin this last week, a Williams "Comet", and I've been trying to get everything working on it. I could really use a bit of help getting started, as I'm not that familiar with these... yet!

Here's the status: The first 2 days I was able to get the game & sound working, 99% operational except for a few switches and sounds. Now the game powers up and all the lights/lcds turn on, flippers work, but there is no sound and it won't coin up. Some of the lights have developed a noticeable flicker, moreso when you use the flippers.

I've cleaned the battery holder on the board, and replaced the batteries with new ones. The board is displaying code "0" which is supposed to mean everything is OK, so I'm wondering if this might be a hardware/connection issue.

Please let me know if anyone has any advice on where to start troubleshooting this. Thanks!

If you replaced the batteries, then you have to open the coin door and press the "test buttons" to get it out of the loop it is in. Another way I have heard that works is to turn the game on and off real quick and that sometimes will sometimes work. I don't advise this method though. Turn the game on, open the coin door and try to get the game into it's test mode, then exit the text mode and you should be in attact mode. Then the game should coin up fine. Start by reseating all connectors and roms. Make sure no broken wires or bad solders on sound board.

Thanks Tom, this did the trick! I'm back in business. :)

You're welcome. And Thank You Very Much for posting your problem has been fixed. So many times people get advice on how to fix something and they never report back that they fixed the issue and what the fix was.

Thanks Again,

Tom
