Williams Coin Doors Resto Questions (Robotron/Joust style)

Ok so i picked up a robotron cab with a atari coin door hacked in and i'm trying to convert it back.

I've picked up a replacement door (as the original is damaged on the bottom) and i'm wondering if i'm missing anything (besides the test switches and bracket) and i had some questions.

Here's the replacement door.

and now the questions.

1.What are the round things with the diodes attached to the top above the coin return bottom left of the mech's. (left of the "tested" sticker on mech 2)

2.Where metal or plastic mech's used originally from the factory? (i threw the 2 plastic ones pictured in when i was making this 1 complete door out of 2 partials.

3. Anything else you guys can see that i'm missing? I know i need the 2 switches for the coin mechs, test switches and bracket, harness, and lock. Am i forgetting anything tho? maybe a williams decal for the front? (that grounding strap will come off also when it's put on the machine.

4.This is a CoinCo door right?

the plan is stripping this down once more and either sanding and painting myself with either Hammered/appliance paint or sending it out to get re powder coated. and giving the plastics a good cleaning before re-installation.

Seems that's a small coil assembly in regards to question 1.

can someone explain to me the reason for them? should i remove them or leave them (i've seen doors with and without them and i have no clue how they're suppose to be wired).

also i've seen other doors with plastic covers over the coin switches at the bottom, does anyone carry these? (were they even used originally on robotron/williams games?)

after a little help from silverball figured out this is a lockout coil. used to send the coin to the return when the machine is off..... was this used on robotron or should i leave it out/?

(edit) looked in the manual and it was used, now to figure out which way to wire it.

2. I have two doors, both have plastic mechs in them.

3. I'll have a look at mine and see if I have anything that you don't.

4. They are CoinCo doors

To answer your questions:

1 Coin lockout coils (rejects coins when power is off). They have always been optional and if using them polarity is important. They come in several operating voltages which should be stamped on the coil wrapper. I think that Williams used 24 volt DC coils.

2 Coinco plastic chutes were installed originally from the Williams factory. Coinco models 5300 or 5301 series were used:

3 Everything you listed is correct, but you left out the two tan plastic covers that go over the coin switches to shield them from drink spills.

4 Yes, you have a Coin Acceptors, Inc (a.k.a. Coinco) model 2802 coin door which is standard for your Williams games. Here is the manual for the door:

fantastic info as always ken, thanks so much. i downloaded the manual.

according to the robotron manual it looks like the coils are 27v (but after doing some reading maybe they're the 24v) are these still available online?? (i know some pinball shops online carry a different part number, maybe bob roberts carries this specific one?).

is there anywhere that actually carries/sells the tan plastic covers that go over the switches? or is that a if you can find them buy them kind of thing?

and thunderbunny thanks for your reply as well. i'm glad i put the right mech's in there and was on the right path with the type/brand of door.

Sadly, most Coinco parts are now unavailable. Coinco bailed out of the amusement market ten years ago. They concentrate on vending machine products now.

i figured that would be the case as i hadn't heard of them before really other than seeing the name on mech's.

what about that lockout coil is that available online? i've been doing some googling but haven't come up with anything
