I'm restoring a Stargate and currently I'm in the process of cleaning up the coin door. I have it all apart and I'm noticing most of the gold colored parts from the inside of the door have a mix of white power oxidation and black pitted stains. Is there any way to clean these up?

Also, is the gold/purple color on these parts the original finish or is this actually a tarnish as well? The reason I ask is I hit a hidden spot with some silver polish and it turned a mirrored silver color. I'm wondering if this is cleaning it or just stripping an original finish.

Obviously this is a pretty nit picky detail, but it would be great to have the inside look as new as possible.

Thanks!

Have you tried a parts tumbler?

Here is a good thread on the topic: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=120463
