Williams Base Hit - HELP?

My Pops just picked one of these up and its fun as shit.

Is anyone familiar with these though? We played a 1P game and everything was fine, but after the 'run total to beat' score was passed, the game started getting wonky. The pitch button pitches the ball, but at the same time, it swings the bat. Any ideas where to start? Anyone have one of these that experienced the same problem?

Man I love those pitch and bats. They used to have a bunch in a row at Disneyland and me and my bro played the crap out of them. I want one but damn they get pricey. Have fun playing that with your dad!!

Jow,

remove the glass, remove all balls, and lift the playfield. There should be a stepper unit and some switches. Make sure everything is screwed down tight and nothing is loose. Then check for burnt wires, loose wires. Next would be to clean the switches with sand paper. Check the score reels ect. in the head to make sure the items ar tight and not loose.

check to see if the bat button is stuck or shorted. the bat wont swing unless a pitch is made. if the bat circuit is " on" , it will swing as soon as a pitch is made.

Pat Sheehy can fix those if you aren't doing it yourself, and he's reasonably priced. He used to own PJ's Pinball in Culver City.

Have a 1963 Williams Major League P&B

Agree with pinnut. You only get one swing once you pitch the ball. Cleaned, inspected, and adjusted mine from top to bottom...

I need to share one of the first times I turned mine on the bat ran continuosly and wouldn't stop. I stood there shocked as smoke billowed out of the game. Inspect the top of your male jones patch to be sure the four wires on top are not bear metal and touching one another. This should be located inside the coin door on the left if I remember correctly.

If that don't work make sure all the step units move freely and as pinnut said not loose...burnt wires on these games are common...they were very popular games in their day every kid my fathers age dreamed of being a baseball player in the bigs.

This is one of the best and most nostalgic games of my collection...brings a smile to any baseball/sports fans face. Worth the time investment...

Goodluck...
