Thanks to fellow klov'er and PAC'er zabadozer, I have one of the games I've really wanted to get - 1942. And in this case it's the Williams version.

It's a pacman conversion, and it appears that in between pacman and 1942 it was something else. Does anyone recognize the artwork the second pic?

Monitor chassis needs a rebuild, so I temporarily borrowed the monitor out of my pole position. Graphics were messed up but reseating the interconnect cables solved that.

There is an effort underway to scan, vectorize, and reproduce this artwork (I will contribute what I can to the cause), so I should ultimately be able to get this thing looking pretty nice. If I do get some repro side art then I will have to decide if I want to move 1942 to a different cab and deconvert this back to pacman. Not sure yet on that one.

Now I need to get a 1943 to go next to it (I need to get more co-op/simultaneous play games in my game room).

Very cool dude!

1942's been on my list for awhile. An underrated game in my opinion. I have the board and marquee and am looking for the right cabinet to convert if I can't find one. I'd definitely be interested in art work if I go that route. Not a bad conversion you've got there, either!

my guess is this http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7066

Nice pickup, Shanman! I didn't even realize that there was a Williams version of 1942 until I read a thread about it here about 6 months ago. The artwork reminds me of the "Rocketeer" comics from the late 80's. Very retro.

if you decide to move the 1942 stuff to another cab (ie rebuild the cab to pac), and if you decide to remove the 1942 sideart in favour of repro art (when its all done - 7146aaron managed to remove his intact but with a layer of paint too by the look of it) - keep me in mind!

looking at the promo materials per the link to www.retrokade.com in my thread (shameless plug ;) http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=133921...), the original cab pictured in the promo stuff looks like a sinistar style (vertical monitor, skinnier width).

you could order a new DPTwiz Robotron (straight sided version) bare cab, and have it built as a sinistar width cab. paint up as per the williams 1942 scheme mentioned in the conversion manual (grey sides i believe).

or convert an empty joust cab and setup for a vertical monitor - seems to be a lot of joust project cabs around (just dont wreck a sinistar! god forbid!).

the marquee may be taller than the std williams cab marquee (not sure - need to check) so i will have the same challenge, or, get a custom one printed to the correct size.

i hope you enjoy the game!

Anyone else got a The Glob machine with side-art?

I'm thinking this is pretty damn rare...

Nice pick up... how much more room do you have left (or are you starting to fill the upstairs area now)?

Easily a dozen more. Depending on how roomy I want it to be, could be even more. Then there's the upstairs. My most recent thinking on that is the air hockey, a skee ball, and move the pin (maybe one or two more pins as well) up there. I still need to get a couch and TV for up there too.

Good score. 1942 is a pretty difficult game, isn't there something like 30 stages? If I had more room, I'd have a 1942 and 1943- as they're two of my favorite shooters. Looking forward to any resto work you do.
