Does anyone have the Willem GQ-4x that they would like to share their thoughts. I'm looking a buying another eprom burner, something a little more universal. I will never give up my Pocket Programmer, but I would also like to have on occasion something that is a little more portable that also does PIC programming. I like the specs on the Willem. I was also wondering if the Willem software supports 74xx chip testing? Kind of a neat little feature that the Topxxxx programmers do.

I have a GQ-4X. Very happy with it. Just plug it into my laptop with the supplied USB cable, and program away. I've done things from 2716s, up to 27C040, and even a couple of 27C4096s (using the 16-bit adapter module). I have not programmed any PICs, but I have used it for a DS1220 NVRAM... Regarding TTLs: No, it doesn't test them.

Is your laptop running Windows 7? I was running my burner with XP, but my new laptop has Windows 7 on it. I couldn't get it to install the software.

I also have my GQ4X running on win7, no problems.
It doesnt do ttl testing but there are a couple cheap programmers out there that do. Check around on ebay, saw a few on there. I would really like to find an affordable tester that will test the older rams like 2114. There are plenty of testers for TTL, cmos and linear that are fairly priced.
