Will pay $20 for help using trackball with ArcadeShop board

$20 for anyone who can give me advice that will solve this problem.

It seems that player1 trackball needs to be hooked up to the player1 joystick inputs, and player2 trackball needs to be hooked up to player2 joystick inputs. Is this correct?

Also, according to the AS website, it needs to be hooked up like this:

UP <=> Y-DIR (purple wire from Happ trackball))
Down <=> Y-CLK (blue)
Left <=> X-DIR (green)
Right <=> X-CLK (yellow)

But when I hook it up this way, I get very erratic movement from the trackball.

Define erratic.....does up go up, down go down, etc.?....but kinda jumpy...
Do you know what brand of track ball you're using? Is it old or newer?

Yes, kind of jumpy. And it even seems to move a little even when the TB is not moving.

I am using a brand new Happ 2 1/4" TB. I tested in on my 60-in-1 using the player 2 controls.

If the track ball worked fine on the 60-in-1.....it sounds like something's up with the ArcadeShop multiboard. Might be time to give'em a call.

Sorry, I don't now that term for a trackball. Can you explain in more detail?

Edit - Read posts above. I get it.

I had a problem like this with a new Happ trackball, and swapping the two trackball cables solved it. Basically I hooked the 2 four pin cables up to the opposite headers and it fixed it. In layman's terms, try hooking the damn thing up backwards.

Dave,
I am concerned with swapping those cables. If I plug them in incorrectly, could the optics pcb blow due to the 5v?

I guess the questions is, could you walk through how to test if the optics pcbs are good? I have tried a red set and a green set, both new, I haven't used the green before, red worked in a 60/1.

Take the up/down cable and connect it to the left/right opto board. Take the left/right cable and hook it up to the up/down opto board.

Make sense now?
