Will Luna City ever have another gameday?

All I was hoping for is someone to say...

"Peters been really busy with personal matters but is planning on organizing another gameday sometime later this year" :)

While I understand being PO'd at those select D'bags who pissed him off, it doesn't make sense to building a million dollar dream arcade just to let it sit and rot...that thing was made to show off. Maybe it will be one of the next warehouse raids in a few years :)

I just want another gameday...Luna City RULES

For the record I never watched Chasing Ghosts.

The best part about this thread is that Peter was bent over someone sharing a film and yet he shared his Pac-Man cartoons liscensed by Hanna-Barbara.

I don't think you can really compare the two. And for the record, I never did get the cartoons to work, so technically, he actually shared nothing. As for Hanna-Barbera, I am sure they would rather pretend the Pac-man cartoon never existed. It was that bad.

First off if anyone who reads this talks to Peter please wish him well. Tell him we hope he gets better.

Phett, if you still want these pac man episodes I believe I have the complete series on DVD. Recorded from TV so not as high quality as I would like but I do have them. I could make you a copy.

Dude, I would love that. My Herculoids collection is DVD's recorded from TV and I am happy enough with them. Let me know what I need to do.

FYI...Peter was in the hospital for most of last week....Im not going to go into specifics but it was to the point that if he didnt improve by this past Mon. he was to have surgury...luckily his condition did improve and he has been home since this past Mon. He also lost 10 lbs. in just a few days.....as far as another game day...well who knows except Peter.....Im just glad he is on the up swing..........

That's good to hear.

I didn't get to see Chasing Ghosts either. Maybe someday.

Wow, I live in the same town Scott Safran was from. I wonder which 7-11 it was where he played Asteroids for 24 hours?

As Dan eluded to earlier......

While Peter was pissed at the file sharing stuff....anyone visiting his site knows that the real reason there are no more game days has nothing to do with KLOV. A very close family friend of Peter's died from cancer. Peter was devasted, he lost his drive to continue with the game days because soo many of them were to benefit his friend that died.

I presume that after the grieving process and time passes, he'll resume game days. But there's no reason to blame it on KLOV when Pete gave his explanation on his Luna Arcade website. He may not come here because of the experience here, but that isn't the reason he gave for his hiatus with Luna Arcade.

I speak wth Peter occasionally and believe this or not, but he really may be looking to start selling off many of his games and "closing" Luna City down and using that space for something else.

I hope he doesn't do it, but his heart isn't in it anymore, last we spoke. I am sure he will make announcements when he is ready. There are some nice games in there.

1+ for sending my best wishes on a speedy recovery. I have seen nothing of the chasing ghosts. It would be nice to view it sometime. As for his collection, I would hope he doesn't sell it, but if he does, it would be nice to get a chance to buy a piece or two. It would be far nicer to see it at least once in all its glory. Best wishes, Peter.

Wow, that sucks. I feel bad for the guy. He most definitely poured a chunk of himself into that amazing project. If his friend really was the source of joy for the gameroom, then I hope he reconsiders and decides to start having cancer benefit game nights.

The same thing happened to a fellow we used to babysit for. He played Tennis with his best friend through school. The friend died tragically from drawn out painful cancer. He gave up the game for a while and everyone was devastated, but now him and his friend's family put on a memorial tennis tournament with a benefit dinner and everything.

He could do a whole lot of good with that gameroom.
Benefit game nights
benefit tourneys
Auctions
Hosting cancer ward patients (kids and adults)
etc, etc,etc.

He has a wonderful tool there that he can use as the ultimate memorial to his lost friend. It would be a beautiful thing.

Similar story: Here in Jacksonville, FL we play a good deal of beach volleyball. Back in the day, we used to play a lot with an awesome guy named Mike Highsmith. Well ... he died in his early twenties in a mountain biking accident and it was hard for a while. It still is, at times ...

Now ... we have a yearly Mike Highsmith Memorial Volleyball Tournament. Of course, it is a normal tournament for all of the usual divisions/skill levels.

But ... there is also a division just for old guys that used to play when Mike was still around. Guys that haven't played on the beach all year find a way to come out for this tournament and, while their skills have diminished, they have a great time and get to spend the day remembering Mike and telling stories about the good old days. Mike's family also attends the tournament for most of the day and really enjoy the fact that we are celebrating Mikes life in a way that he would have thoroughly enjoyed.

I honestly have no idea what happens to the monies raised from this event, but the point is that we honor him by continuing the tradition ... and I believe he would have wanted that.

Let's hope Peter finds the motivation to keep Luna City up and running ... I remember the first day I found his website - I wasted an entire work day reading the build notes and admiring the photos. Just wow ....................... that place is like Disneyland!

I dunno, youtube was pretty quick to take down "Christmas in PacLand" when I posted it there a couple years ago...

It's got to be rough for him I'm sure... I'd like to add my name to the "Sending Best Wishes to Peter" list, and I hope he doesn't close it up and sell it off, but I can completely see why he would. While it would be cool to have the annual memorial game day, and it would be a great tribute to a lost friend, I'm sure it's got to be tough for him having that huge reminder sitting in the backyard for the rest of the year...

Best post of 2010 right here, put my vote in! Peter's site was also an inspiration for my small gameroom. I am sure everyone here wishes him the best.

I for one hope he doesn't sell. There has been far too much of that lately. He is a pillar of the community (locally and here) and a lot of people out there need that. Having an arcade hero to look up to is great for everyone involved.

yeah from the players section of the movie site.

Billy Mitchell – You can buy hot sauce from Bill by calling 1-800-HOTSAUCE. (8 digits?)
Ben Gold – He currently sells 401K plans.
Mark Robichek – He likes lists including his top 50 songs of all time, which he can recite from memory.
Todd Rogers – Todd also collects spiders.
Darren Olson – Darren changed his name to "Chris Steele" after watching an episode of Remington Steele.
Leo Daniels – Every Wednesday night, he can be found at the Crazy Horse Gentlemen's Club where he holds a VIP status.
Robert Mruczek – Robert is also a passionate art collector.
Sam Blackburn – Today Sam is trying to hack a furby to say naughty words.
