I just picked up a Rock-ola 7500 100 cd player. I like to make compilation discs of my favorite tunes in addition to regular cds.

Does it matter which type of file I burn to a disc (mp3, wav, etc?) and install in the unit?

Thanks,
Marc

The source material doesn't matter, provided the discs are burned as standard Red Book audio CD's. And, provided that the playback unit can play a CD-R. It should, but some older CD players can't.

Just watch the quality on some files - MP3 compressions is lossy, and at low bitrate, the music sounds like crap when played over real speakers. The highs get all distorted, cymbals sound rattly, etc. It's not as noticeable on iPod earbuds, but on a good sound system like in a jukebox, it'll sound terrible. Your mileage (and hearing) may very, but anything lower than about 196kbps is going to be instantly recognizable as having been compressed.
