I'm trying to sort out the best course of action on a bad Ebay deal and it comes down to 2 choices:

(1) The nearest airport doesn't have pickup trucks for a one-way rental, but I can get a Chevy Trailblazer at a decent price for a one way, if a Joust will fit. Total drive time (according to Google maps 10 hours). Cost: about $200 + gas.

(2) Rent a pickup truck from a further airport, but I will end up having to return it to the same airport Total drive time 18.5 hours (14 hours one day + 4.5 hours the next). Cost about $100 + gas x 2.

If anybody has any insight on whether a full sized (Joust) cabinet will or won't fit into a Trailblazer please let me know.

Thanks.

If guys can shove a game into a honda fit than I would think a trailblazer would work. You don't have anyone local who would let you borrow their truck? I hate to see you spend all that extra cash man!

I guess it depends on what year/type your Blazer is. I had a 1996 4 door 4WD that hauled much bigger games than Joust. There was another thread about Blazers hauling games on here somewhere.

So you are flying somewhere, renting a vehicle, and driving home with the cab? Or are you getting a vehicle from an airport near you and driving both ways? This doesn't help you with your actual question, I'm just interested in what you've signed up to here.

I'll be flying to an airport closer to the game. The problem is that I have not been able to get any of the rental locations to cough up a pickup truck for a one way rental. So I can fly into Tulsa and rent a Trailblazer one way to Houston or fly into DFW and rent a pickup truck, but I have to drive it back to DFW the next day.

The flying is a zero cost issue, it is the driving time and the vehicle rental cost. And I am more than willing to trade cost for driving, within reason.

As to the borrowing a truck. I am more than willing to borrow a truck for in-town runs. Dropping 1000+ miles on a buddy's truck is a non-starter for me.

Edit: I just don't want to make the plans to rent a Trailblazer, drive to the site and find out the damn thing won't fit.

Update: I just checked and I can get a 10' or 14' UHaul for not much more, if anybody needs something hauled from Tulsa or Dallas to Houston. Reasonable rates :).

regarding the trailblazer, ken, i would think it will hold it. i have a trailblazer and have hauled a tempest, pac, tron, space invaders, satan's hollow, and some others i can't think of with the liftgate fully closed. you just have to put the seats down.

I think it would. I fit a Bad Dudes in a regular 02 Blazer, and I think theyu are smaller than the Trailblazer.

Thanks. I just found the specs on the interior and it looks like a tight fit, but possible. Interior cargo height = 32 inches. That was what I was worried about. Cargo length is 70 inches, but if a little hangs out, no big deal.

Going through Tulsa will shave 3-4 hours off the drive time tomorrow and doing it one way will free up most of the day on Saturday.

Yeah, as others have said, it should fit. I LOVE my Chevy Trailblazer. I use it to haul pinball machines all tthe time :)

Here's a picture with Arabian Nights in it for reference:

i have the same issue, as far as height. i just lay all the games on their sides in mine. that's the only way i've been able to get everything to fit. most games have a width of 24-27 inches or so, so it always works.

Most games fit in a Trailblazer just fine. With some really tall stuff you won't be able to close the back (I had a Dynamo cab that wouldn't fit). In that case you can use bungee cords to hold the back door down, but I don't feel comfortable riding too far like that.
