wii vs. arcade games

I played Boom Blox Party with my wife and kids the other night for almost three hours straight on the Wii. It was the most I have played in one sitting in a long time on any system. The game is so much fun.

The Wii DOES have some good titles.... I finished Twilight Princess and enjoyed every minute of it. A must own. Definitely not a lazy sequel. Same with Super Mario Galaxy. Such a new type of 3D mario game, it's pretty great if you like platforming. My buddy and I also played Tiger Woods 10 on the Wii last night with the new motion plus controls. It's a really amazing golf game and has more of a goldentee party feel than any other golf game out there. I love my Wii, and my 360 and my PS3. Each one serves a purpose. I would never get rid of it.
Do you have the first Boom Blox? How does the new one compare? I love the first one. That and Williams Pinball get the most play (apart from bowling) at my house.

"What I've been saying to our development teams recently is that Twilight Princess was not a bad game, by any means. But, still, it felt like there was something missing."

Thats what I always felt about Twilight Princess but thought I was the only one , only because everyone else always said how much they loved it . I got to the Mines then lost interest . The game lacks that special something the older ones had .

Majora's mask was the last good Zelda game . I loved that game .

You are a Nintendo fanboy for sure.

LOL (not in trite pejoritive way, I literlally just laughed out loud). I sold my original NES as a kid because I thought the games sucked...Still think a lot of them do. Funny to be called a fanboy 'for sure'.

Anyway, it was the totality in your comments that I found utterly silly. To say:

"all of those games (nintendo produced WII games) are just somewhat lazy sequels"

Is silliness. EVERY company pushes games out the door. ALWAYS has, ALWAYS will. (hows that for totality!)

There are gems and junk for all systems.

I agree with most everyone else. I like the games where the main and usually only goal is to get the high score. I get sick of some of these wii and xbox360 games where it takes 30 minutes just to get past the tutorial. Then there are all those "push all the buttons as fast as you can games" which get very boring.

I don't think calling Nintendo developed games "somewhat lazy sequels" is much of a stretch, really. Ok, Wii Sports isn't actually a sequel, I'll give you that, but it's still an *incredibly* lazily made game; just look at the "graphics". And now they're releasing Wii Sports Resort which will *actually* be a "somewhat lazy sequel" (which is actually a nice thing to say considering the graphics will still look like they came from a 3d modeller taking his first 3d class).

Right, I agree that every company pushes games out the door, but people seem to think it's not the case with Nintendo, which is why I pointed it out. It has become increasingly bad with the Wii because even though they had a great start with the console, its sales have dropped dramatically since now there is no artificial hype anymore (aka you can actually go to a store and find one now).

P.S. I stand by my fanboy statement.

Metroid Corruption is beyond awesome. I loved the old school Metroid on the NES, and this one on Wii is really badass.
