Wii Update Thread

I played a bunch of Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection last night... man, that's a fun game. I'm kicking myself for not playing it earlier (it's been sitting around in my pile for 2 weeks or so).

I saw that at Target a while back but didn't pick it up. I've only heard good things. Next time I'm out at the store I'll see if I can find it.

Got the HBC installed. I couldn't connect to the network for the browser at first. Finally figured out it was because I was connected using AOSS. After setting up a manual connection it worked fine.
Cool deal. I'll keep that in mind if I decide to set that up at my parents' place since I think theirs is setup via AOSS.

I tried out SNES9X and FCEU (or something like that) today. Both worked great. FTPii is also great. It's much easier to use that to transfer programs/roms from the pc than having the switch out the SD card.

I picked this up today at Costco. $15.99 seemed like a good deal if it's halfway decent.

I got mine at Costco as well. Let me know what you think of it.

It's a great game. I haven't played the majority of these tables before and really want to play them on a real table now. The camera movement took a little to get used to at first. It would zoom in our out and I would lose sight of my ball for a second, but after a few games you get used to it. If you don't take time to read the rules of the table it won't be as much fun either. Also, going through the rules helps point out the targets, ramps, etc., which is helpful if you haven't played the game before. The controls are very easy as well. The table goals are a nice addition and really help you learn the tables. Definitely worth $16.

FYI, you can adjust the camera position & behavior with the 1 and/or 2 buttons.

Damn, now you guys are making me want it.

Yeah, one button changes it between the smart camera and a fixed camera, and the other changes the camera angle (regardless if you're on smart or fixed - I think there are 5 diff. angles).

Cool. I tried the fixed but the smart camera suits me better since I've gotten used to it. Perhaps if I had a bigger t.v.

How far have you guys gotten on the Williams Challenge mode (I think that's the name)? I sucks at Funhouse and haven't made it past yet.

I actually prefer the older pins with the more open playfields. I have been playing a lot of Jive Time.

I played a lot of 3 player games on individual tables, but haven't tried the challenge mode out yet.

With all this talk about the Williams pinball collection being so good, I'm gonna have to pick up a copy for myself. I think I'll grab a copy when I'm out tomorrow getting Wario Land: Shake It. Anybody else getting this?

You should drop by.

Jive Time is identical to the EM pin I have, but mine is called Rock'n Roll.

IPDB

Using continues, I was at Whirlwind last night before I quit playing (with two continues left). I had continued twice - once on Gorgar (I suck at that one), and once on Sorcerer. I think I probably could have finished the challenge, but it was getting late and I needed to get to sleep.

We played a lot of pinball and Wii Family Table Tennis last night.

Yes you should definitely pick up Williams Pinball! It is the best pinball sim I have ever played...which is pretty much every one.

Anyone think Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie will ever be released on the virtual console? Sure hope they work it out. Maybe they can fix all of the chronic slowdown issues on Tooie.

Wow, I suck. I did make it to the table past Funhouse last night. Tonight I got 7.5 million on my first ball on Taxi, but only managed a combined 1 million with the other two balls.

It's pretty unlikely. Rare is now owned by Microsoft, so of course they're not going to be easy to deal with. The main reason the Donkey Kong Country games have been released (also by Rare) is because...well, it's freaking DK and Nintendo obviously has more of say there...if they didn't buy the rights out exclusively, I really don't know.

Did they ever release Starfox 64? Still one of my top 5 console games, ever.
