Anyone excited about this one? I'm not, but we'll probably get one anyways. The controller looks like it's almost the size of a tablet PC, and I think Nintendo will fail horribly if they just go after the hardcore gamers. Anyone else have any other thoughts?

I saw the video and what they showed looked just like the Wii shit thats out now except now theres a tablet. I just dont see how anyone is gonna play an FPS or the like with that honking controller.

Now if that Zelda HD demo was actually a game I would buy one but alas its just a tech demo and with the current status of Skyward Sword the next installment wont be out for another 5 years. Nintendo just takes to long to get there games to market that why I just sold my Wii because I don't have faith that skyward sword will even come out this year.

I really miss the Snes days when there were lots of games on Nintendo systems

I'm worried enough about kids breaking something when playing with the normal Wii controllers , I can't imagine how I'll fell when they are holding that $150 (my guess) controller...

At launch you can only connect one tablet (controller) to the system? Wtf, was wii supposed to be a multiplayer based system? I know we had a lot of parties when we had 4 controllers in use constantly...

Here's a question (and I'm sure we all know the answer already):

The Wii U is backwards compatible with Wii titles, yes? What happens to all those songs I have in Rock Band and Guitar Hero on my Wii? And Wiiware and Virtual Console titles?

I'll answer my own question here, they won't work on the new console and I'll need to purchase them all again. Fun.

And no doubt we'll get the same answers when the PS4 and the XBox 720 eventually come out.

I think I'll sit the next generation out like these fine members, I've had enough of rebuying everything again.

Well, I don't know about Rock Band and all that, but Nintendo does allow you to transfer your DSiWare games from your DSi to your 3DS, so I'd say there's a good chance they'll do the same with WiiWare and Virtual Console games from Wii to WiiU. Or at least I hope so. It may depend on how easy it all is to hack :p Also, I'm not sure how the Dsi>3DS transfer works...the games are stored on an SD card, so it may just convert something on the SD card to work with 3DS and no DSi, I really don't know.

As for PSN and Xbox Live, those downloads are linked to your account (which is the smart way), so they should offer a way to re-download those on their new consoles, I'll bet. Though I guess they'd need a way to deactivate them from the old system, so who knows.

I really don't get Nintendo's strategy of being one generation behind, they actually admitted that the footage shown at E3 was from Xbox 360 gameplay, but it doesn't sound like their new system will offer much more than the power of a Ps3 or 360.. and yet they think they'll get the hardcore gamers? In 3-4 years they'll have to release another new system just to keep up, parents are gonna get tired of buying all these new systems.

I'm sure you could still use regular controllers, they're just talking about one tablet at a time (ie 1 tablet + 3 reg controllers)

I'll skip buying this. I've said this before, but I wish the Nintendo,Sony, and Microsoft would start making consoles that you can upgrade so you don't have to always buy a new system every couple of years to be able to play the latest games.

Well this is very odd (but really, is anyone that surprised???). At E3 Nintendo were so happy to show their film reel of developers all thrilled to be making games for WiiU and one of the first guys in that trailer was Ken Levine.

In a twist of fate, Ken is now saying, and I quote "we have no plans to do any games for that platform"

Am I the only one here to who thinks 3rd party support for WiiU is going to circle the drain faster than Wii support was?

Why would you even care if you already own a 360 or PS3. They need exclusives and good ones at that just look at Sony they keeping adding exclusives and in my opinion their surpassing the 360 in quality titles.

Noone is going to buy a WiiU to play ports of games for a system they already own. Especially if it costs more.

I do think the PS3 has some of the best exclusives (Uncharted, GoW, MGS, etc), but I still prefer the 360 for non-exclusives.

I'm planning on picking one up.

Selling a car tomorrow too, so I will easily be able to save up for one at launch now. Premium bundle, of course.

read somewhere that it will be "20x more powerful than the Wii."

Ah, so finally something that will compete with current Xboxes and PS3s. Gotcha Reggie.

Pass.

I'm really intrigued by the controller allowing players to have a second perspective on the same playing environment in NintendoLand. With that said, I went out and pre-ordered a deluxe set from Gamestop 5 minutes after they started taking pre-sales

In addition to NintendoLand, I'll definitely pick up Mario Bros. Wii U, and possibly even Pikman 3. ZombiU looks sweet, but I'll hold off until the prices go down. I'm really waiting for the next incarnation of MarioKart to arrive. My girl and I had a blast unlocking all of the characters and going head-to-head in online play :D
