Wii gets no love in my house. What am I missing?

donkey kong country returns is awesome, you have to own it,i play it on dolphin emu non stop.
wii has some very cool games for everyone, but maybe your children prefer the superior graphics and the violent games of ps3 and 360

My kids prefer games that are fun. So far we just haven't found that game yet. Ill give it a shot here soon.

Mario kart is the most played game in our house, hands down. It is easy to play, and has many different game styles. If you want the wheels, that's fine, but they aren't necessary. You can also play it without the motion controls.

I personally like some of the light gun style games. Dragon Quest Swords was my favorite, because it had RPG elements. House of the dead, etc are all pretty good as well.

at least I admit it,unlike many others who dont
piracy is common in my country(among many other countries) but I am not selling anything ofcourse, just keep them for me for cheap gaming
I cant afford paying high prices for games and I dont own a console anymore to pirate it anyway,pc and emulators only

Kids these days no longer want to play kid games, they want more mature titles. My kids are a prime example. Thay are ages 7,10,and 11 and all three prefer 360 over wii. They say wii is for babies lol. We got it the day it released and it lasted 2 months before we got bored with it and sold it. Two months later we got one for free with a furniture deal we purchased and sold it the next day. According to reports this week the wii is dead and sales are down over 40% being that everyone already has one and they are just not selling. Poor wii.

yes wii is almost dead, nintendo is focusing in 3ds and wii 2 probably.
but I cant imagine a kid who doesnt like new super mario bros or super mario galaxy, its a pity

You do realize that these guys are giving you a bad time because you openly admitted to stealing, right?

Okay guys really, over half the guys here run pirated games on their MAME cabs and the dude in question lives in Greece. I've been there, the video game console scene is EXTREMELY limited. It's pretty much import or download, and in the context I can't blame him for taking the latter route.

I never play my Wii. Dug it out after months of inactivity when I got Mario Galaxy 2, beat it in 2 days, haven't touched it since. Hell, I play the Nintendo 64 every day, it's just more fun overall. Games have to be fun to keep attention... seems devs forget that these days ;)

Wouldn't you just be better off hanging out in the emulation forums since that's a constant for you... or SNK fighters....

These forums are about arcade preservation. Restorations, and repair are the constant here.

I and many have and can appreciate emulation for it's merits but w/out the original stuff you would be emulating nothing. It makes no sense going to neo-geo.com ranting the merrits of PC Shooter gaming right?

Piracy only keeps the prices of games high sadly. If everyone paid for the games then the prices would come down. I hope you work in an industry where someone is ripping you off. Consider how you feel that way.

I like it here, its very interesting and there are some very good people, but if you dont like my posts, you dont have to answer them and insult me(not only you but few others also)
I dont say anything personal to anyone, just give my opinion where I think I need here, its not that bad,I think we have democracy here

companies sell their games well in their highly targeted markets, like your country, japan,s.korea, parts of europe, etc.
they know well that piracy exists in less rich countries like mine and its sure that they dont care that much
also without piracy many games wouldnt be so well known worldwide

I am not promoting piracy and I am not a pirate games-movies-music seller, its just the way I do it for myself and only

Doing it for yourself is still piracy. You don't have to sell it to be ripping it off.

Publishers don't have the resources to launch into smaller countries especially when system manufacturers won't launch into a country where building the support infrastructure would cost more than they would make selling the systems or games. Yes it's sad. If you really like the game enough then you should just pay for it by importing it.

its not the regional problem, all games are very expensive here for me at least.
even 20+ years before my atari 2600 and NES were clones with multigame cartridges,I always remember myself buying bootlegs because I couldnt afford buying them in original form but that doesnt mean I dont love videogames as much as others do.

Ours doesn't get used either, it was awesome when we first got it, everyone wanted to play it. But now it sits collecting dust.

When I want to play games I just want to sit on the couch, who the hell wants to dance around and swing their arms and shit, I just want to chill and play some games haha...

Same reason why I really don't want to buy my kids the "Kinect". It may get used for a month and end up like the wii.

Okay, while I'll admit that it's probably my fault this thread derailed like it did, let me put another two cents in. oyama82, while I don't agree with piracy in most forms (I'm not so much against emulation and the like for systems/games that are long out of production, but I do not agree with piracy of current generation games), I can understand where you are coming from, living where you do.

However, my main point here and the thing I hope will leave an impression on you, is that you are quoted as saying:

donkey kong country returns is awesome, you have to own it,i play it on dolphin emu non stop.

Why did you have to mention playing it on an emulator? Why was that important to bring up? To me, that looks as if you're proud and/or bragging that you didn't pay for the game. Why couldn't you have just said:

donkey kong country returns is awesome, you have to own it,i play it non stop.

If you had done that, none of this would have happened. You must be aware that many people are against piracy at a moral level and you had to know that you were opening yourself up for a few choice words from people. Not to mention that there are many others on KLOV that are directly in the game industry and make their living making, selling, and/or distributing video games - obviously these people will not take kindly to those who openly admit to and seemingly brag about pirating games.

Anyway, you do what you will - it's not like anyone of us can stop you or change your mind. However, I think it's important to know where you are and who you're talking to and there are people here who will give you shit for stuff like that. It's kind of like how I cuss and swear all the fucking time - but if I'm around my parents, for example, I don't talk like that. They won't like to hear that shit from me, so I keep my mouth shut as I have no business talking like that in front of them anyway.

I don't mean that to sound preachy or anything like that, but I hope it makes sense. I want everyone here to get along, talk games, make good deals, and plain have a good time. But emulation and piracy can be heated subjects around here, so we should try to keep it to a minimum, in my opinion.

Once again, my apologies to the OP.

Let it go back to being on like Donkey Kong™!

Not sure if anyone saw what I had posted earlier in here in support of oyama82.

I deleted the post after I was reading a completely different thread and saw another post about how he was going to DL the game on "piratebay". It had nothing to do with the thread.

I don't understand why he needs to advertise this over and over again but it was enough for me to delete my post and now agree with Mattroid and Prairied.

WII donations accepted :)

I agree WII, is ok, My roomate has one..
I'll accept any donations of unwanted WII's lol..
I love the WII sports bowling.
the baseball is pretty cool too..
and would be nice to be able to play netflix in my room instead of
having to be in the living room to watch anything.. :)

Im a fan, but when it comes to consoles I am always about 10 years behind.
Last console I owned myself, was a sega game gear. which a friend was borrowing
and then got it stolen out of her house.. Until this day I suspect it was her ex husband.

Agreed, but on this forum is we can cuss each other out in one thread and in another thread get along quite well. I have other hobbies and I was banned from a very big astronomy forum for posting the word "crap" and disagreeing with a manufacturer for their quality of product. I absolutely love this place for being able to disagree with people and sometimes use a foul word or two within reason.

Emulation/piracy is a big part of this hobby. If it weren't for these two things, some games would be gone forever.

I saw your post as well as his but decided not to reference it in my post above. And yeah, I agree.

I also agree here. I'd love to have a good civil debate about piracy and emulation in general, but we've tried that and it just doesn't work out here, which is unfortunate.

Very true. As I said earlier, I do not knock people for emulating systems and games which are are of print, etc. Some would disagree with me on that.

However, if the same copy of the game you're emulating can be purchased new somewhere where the original publisher/whoever still gets a "cut" of that sale (ie: Wii, PSP, NDS, XB360, etc games), then I would disagree with that.

As a note, I may move these posts to another thread like I did the last time this type of derail occurred in an effort to save the original topic.

I apologise if someone feels offended of the way I do it,or how I express myself
but I feel I have to be honest and not hiding behind anything
as I said earlier,I am not promoting piracy, its just the way I do it for myself and only

I suggested to the others to get donkey cong country because its really a great game, with whatever way they feel,I didnt point them to go somewhere and download it,I dont care how they will get it anyway,I dont have any profit either if they download it or buy it legal
and yes I download nfs from piratebay because I cant afford buying it,but it doesnt mean you have to do the same,I just told you how I did it and nothing else.as some of you admitted, people do things differently in other parts of the world

thank you all

I just bought Epic Mickey a few days ago and I like the game quite a bit! There isn't a whole lot of new ground covered but I love the theme and presentation. Its a fun game.

And on another note anyone that pirates games should be ashamed of themselves. There are many places to buy games no matter what country you live in. So what if you have to ship it in, if you can't buy the real copy you shouldn't be playing it period.
