I bought this thing with that 4 player Mario, Wii Sports, Prince of Persia and the latest Metroid game about 4 months ago. I have yet to pick up a remote and play it at all. The kids played it for a few days then went right back to the 360, PS3 and PC's.

I really liked the other Metroid games so I will be at least playing it to go through that game.

What else am I missing here?

My kids were the same way until I bought Mario Kart and a few steering wheels.
Fun for the whole fam!

Ours doesn't get used either, it was awesome when we first got it, everyone wanted to play it. But now it sits collecting dust.

When I want to play games I just want to sit on the couch, who the hell wants to dance around and swing their arms and shit, I just want to chill and play some games haha...

Yeah. Its to the point that I'm thinking about selling the entire thing. Of course I have to play Metroid first!

Are you or your kids overweight? :D

It's definitely much easier to sit and play, and if the 'moving around part' isn't all that fun, then yeah, the excitement is gonna fade fast.

Nah, the kids are all skin and bones. No matter what we feed them they seem to stay that way too! I dont let them have a lot of crap so I guess that helps.

I'm going to try Metroid later today. If its too much work to play this bad boy is going on eBay!

I find the Wii lacks good games .. the new DK Country Returns has given my Wii a new breath of life in the last week :)

I looked at that game but it doesnt seem like its anything new so I dont think I will be buying it.

williams pinball gets played in my house daily. also mario cart, rock band 2,wii music and wii fit/wii fit+.get lots of play. netflix is also run through or wii.

Don't feel bad. I have a Wii (modded with 100 games) and a PS3. The wii gets played maybe once or twice a month, and the PS3 only gets used when I watch a blu-ray or stream Netflix.

Wii is great for getting non-gamers to play games. Wii sports was well designed so that anyone can have a good time. The Lego series is lots of fun for kids. Thats about it.

I finally got the girlfriends Wii out of storage and im going to mod it so I can just put A LOT of games on a HDD. Right now she doesnt have shit for games. Once I do that then im sure Ill use it more.

+1 on the Williams Pinball Hall Of Fame - best video pinball experience, bar none. I own a second copy for my glovebox for when I stop by homes without it - and I rarely buy games. It's on the other consoles as well, but it really shines on the Wii with the motion controls (which I normally hate).

*New Super Mario Bros. was a REALLY fun play.
*Donkey Kong Country Returns is fun, although it is just more of the same old DKC with purty graphics.
*Mario Kart is indeed a must-have, though I personally don't use my wheel controller. It's ALMOST as good as Mario Kart Arcade GP/2, I prayed and prayed for Pac characters :(

But all kids these days want to do is shoot each other in the face and talk smack about each others mothers, the Wii really is mostly nostalgic and cutesy in nature.

Loads of shovelware games on the Wii. In fact, there haven't been many good release for the Wii for some time. Mario Galaxy 2 was the last one I bought. Even Epic Mickey looks to be something of a disappointment. I am looking forward to the new Donkey Kong Country game though.

Almost all the hyped-up new blockbuster releases are for the PS3 and 360, including more of the 'mature' rated games, so that's what the kids are going to be talking about amongst themselves, and that's consequently what they want to play. The only real blockbuster titles on Wii are the ones produced by Nintendo themselves, eg Mario games.

The fact that most Wii games just don't look as spectacular or as detailed/sharp as the 360 and PS3 games is a factor too, you know how kids love eye candy.

Since Nintendo recycle a lot of their game character franchises, they rely a lot on nostalgia in the appeal of these games. Kids who have no nostalgia for these games aren't going to care, they are approaching these games often for the first time.

donkey kong country returns is awesome, you have to own it,i play it on dolphin emu non stop.
wii has some very cool games for everyone, but maybe your children prefer the superior graphics and the violent games of ps3 and 360

This sounds very judgmental for someone who admitted to (presumably) pirating the game in the very same post.

My apologies if this ends up derailing the thread, but I felt that it needed to be pointed out.

ofcourse I can judge
those who buy pirate stuff play much more games than the others who dont pirate because they get them cheap or free,so they have big enough knowledge and crisis :)

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean, but it really doesn't matter.
