Guys,

I have a WPC sound board that makes the opening "bong" sound, but then never makes any other noise. Just stopped the other day. In game mode and test mode - nothing. Volume up, fuses good, connectors good. The fact that it makes the bong noise tells me that the amps, speakers, power, and wiring must be good. What else should I check?

Any help greatly appreciated...thanks!

Oh, and it's a fishtales if that matters.

I had this happen on my dr who....
After a lot of testing, I found one of the sound roms were bad.
It drove me crazy.
I ordered a new set from "that pinball place" and all is good.

Start with simple:

Spend a few moments re-seating all of the ribbon cables that go between boards. They carry the databus from the MPU to the other boards and have a tendency to get corroded and need a few pull/push cycles to clean up the pins. If the bus dropped a line it could result in the wrong sounds or none at all depending upon which line is wonky.

Update.....first, thanks for all of the suggestions. I pulled the board and tested the EPROM. Sure enough, there were some incongruities with the data it was supposed to hold. So I reburned it and I'm waiting to test it later today. Will update you.

Thanks again!!!!
