The Sharp XM-2001N monitor chassis in my Playchoice needs the horizontal width-coil replaced. Anyone know where can I get a replacement horizontal width-coil at?
I think it's the width-coil because when I turn the power on there is a spark at the base of the width-coil and the base is burnt/melted a bit. Sometimes the monitor will power up and I can see the game screen and everything works, but then it shorts out. I haven't removed the chassis yet. Could it be I just need to resolder the joints at the base of the width-coil, or do I need to replace it?
There is also a resistor next to the width-coil that has some burning at the leg nearest the width-coil, so I'm thinking maybe some solder from that resistor may be contacting that of the width-coil on the solder side.
Do Playchoice boards use inverted colors or not? Just wondering if I could replace the monitor with any 19" monitor. I don't think I saw an inverter on the chassis, just the sound amp.
