I took some pics of the Wico XY pattern generator in action this week. It's a neat little unit and seems to work well with the Electrohome G-08 monitor. I have not tried it with the Wells Gardner 6100 yet but I do have the cables to do so.

Neat little unit- did you find it on eBay?

I need to grab a raster version sometime so my Williams boards can take a break from being the pattern generators while I struggle to align convergence.

I have 2 of the raster models also. I need to pull them out and see if they work.

I have the raster model. It only does positive sync as it comes from the factory, but I modified mine years ago with selectable positive or negative sync.

Ken,
Could you snap a photo on how you did your mod on the raster unit? I want to do the same but I really like seeing how others went about it before I do my own.
TIA

Ever cracked that thing open and seen what's on the inside?

Seems to me it'd be pretty easy to build such a thing, probably nothing more than some R/C circuits, or maybe some counters and a DAC in there. Even looks like it comes in a standard-sized project box.

(Now you've got me thinking about grabbing a small microcontroller like an Arduino and programming it to emulate such a gadget. The only heavy part of the project would be a power transformer to step wall voltage down to 50VAC, but it'd still be a lot easier for testing purposes than the present requirement of "drag the monitor near a working machine, or drag a working machine near the test bench...")

Fairly simple circuit one could build. The unit doesn't provide power to monitors so one still needs the various power transformers. David Fish drew up wonderful schematics:

I've been looking for the 200 ohm Piher linear potentiometers for years. Piher can't help me (unless I need 2500 pieces). I hacked in another pot for now but would sure like to find a replacement. Anybody know where to get one?
