I'm looking for the grommet for the joystick to my Frogger. I have an original Frogger joystick and need the centering grommet. It's the thin red-ball wico joystick. I measured from the bottom of the shaft and the diameter is roughly 7/32 of an inch (or about 5.5mm) I have an extra Ms. Pac grommet, but it's just a tad bit too big in diameter.

Thanks

I think I have these. Send me a PM as a reminder and I will check when I get home today.
The ones I have are slightly smaller center hole than a pac grommet. I will test fit it on my frogger.

If you have another I'll take one. Wile I am still looking for the joystick I am sure I'll need a grommet when I find one. If I find one

If these are right I have about 50 or more of them. I have been reaming them to fit pac sticks.

If so I think a lot of people will be happy. FYI, they should fit early Sega games(Frogger, Pengo) and Taito games if/when you start to sell them

I measured the frogger stick at .245" (6.2mm)
Pac sticks are .263" (6.7mm) and the grommets I have are .260".
They are kinda sloppy on the frogger stick and dont fit the pac stick without reaming. The interesting thing is I pulled the grommet from my frogger and it also measured .260"
I dont know if its original but it sure looked like it. Anyways, I wouldnt consider these a suitable replacment but could be used in a pinch.

You should stop that :) You know how hard those are to come by? Ask Mylstar how much he was getting for the last batch he had (you'll be shocked)....and he sold out pretty fast.

Can anyone confirm the ID of a frogger grommet? These seem to be too big to me.

Here's a good exploded view of the "small" Wico stick. (page 8)
http://www.crazykong.com/manuals/JungleKing.man.pdf

A lot of Taito and Stern games used these. Centuri also used it...I know Vanguard uses this stick. It came in 4-way and 8-way. They were basically identical....8-way used a slightly larger actuator. I'm down to my last three grommets. They look very similar to the Pac-Man grommet, but when compared side-by-side....the differences are obviuos. The forming/contours of the actual rubber is quite different. The exploded view in the linked manual is a good representation of how the grommet looks. The Frogger manual sucks for this. I don't have a Frogger in the shop at present (or I would have already compared). If you have true "small" wico grommets....stop destroying them for Pac-Man's :) Buy a box of the $10.00 Pac-Man grommets Bob Roberts had made and save/sell your Wico grommets.

I can't find my calipers....my grommet hole measures 7mm.

Mike, Here's a couple photo's of "small" Wico's...
And I was wrong on my last post (I realized after digging these out)...Like their "big" Wico counterpart...4-way, 8-way, and 2-way bases are different. The 8-ways are punched with a "circle" opening....The 4-ways are more "squared"...and the 2-ways are oblonged so only twe directions are poossible. 2 and 4-ways use the small actuator, 8-way uses the big. Also, Game Plan used these sticks. My NOS Kaos control panel has a 2-way.

Thanks Riptor,

I'm waiting a bit until I know for sure if those are the proper grommets or not. My stick is exactly like the one Elutz has posted a photo of (the thin one laying down.) I suppose if all else fails, I can just wrap the stick with tape or something so it fits more snug in the grommet. For now, I'm going to wait until I have more info about the grommet.

Oops, sorry. I didn't realize how the angle of that picture distorted the look of the joysticks. Both joysticks in that picture are the same...one loose, one mounted in it's assembly.
