i can't seem to get a new wico leaf joystick to go 8-way. i used the black piece with the shoulder like instruction sheet says(with shoulder by E-clip?) but still is 4-way!

there a trick?

also, what is the best way to adj leafs? when installing, i believe i bent one and have been trying to bend it for closer contact.

this is the other one that goes on shaft that's suppose to be for 2/4 way! of course, the one installed now is the shouldered one.

Took me a long time to find a diagram this good of the wico leaf joystick assembly (Thanks to the Dig Dug manual).
The way the actuator is shown going in the diagram is for 8-way.

thanks for the pic!

so i'm guessing my switch actuator is upside down and maybe the shoulder goes into the spring to shorten the actuator??? now that i know how it is installed i'm just trying to grasp/understand how it works.

I am not a pro like many of the other people on here but I believe it has to do with the thickness of the actuator. The thin actuator side would not be able to hit 2 leaf switches at the same time to make it go diagonal. It comes close but is just too thin. So you want the thick side near the leaf switches so it makes a good contact for diagonal (8-way). Also, sometimes there is a 4-way actuator that is just thinner with no lip and it makes it so you can only hit up down left or right.
